add-on question

We purchased 200 points at AKV back in April 2007, but have already been to AKV once and have 3 more vacations planned through 2009.

As many have experienced after joining DVC, the family members have started crawling out of the woodwork wanting to come along. We are totally fine with this and its part of the reason we joined DVC in the first place. I had already anticipated there would be a flood of "long lost relatives" when we decided to buy into DVC so I knew we would eventually have to add more points to get larger accomodations on a yearly basis.

I didn't anticipate it would happen this quickly however, so it looks like addonitis has struck us hard

I will be adding on directly through Disney. Taking the advice of many on these boards I want to make sure the add-on is setup as a separate contract should we ever decide or need to sell it or the original contract.

Does this happen automatically during an add-on or is it something I need to request specifically? I will probably add on 110pts to take advantage of the current promotion and would like to end up with 2 contracts, 200pts (the original) and 110pts (the add-on).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You currently have a contract xxx.0 with DVC. When you add-on from DVC, your first add-on will be contract xxx.1, your second will be xxx.2, etc. These are all separate contracts that may be sold separately, but will all be under your one membership number and share the same Use Year.

This assumes you just have one membership number today (i.e., you didn't buy multiple contracts via resale that have different UYs).

So, no, you don't need to tell DVC anything except you want to add on. Your additional points will not be combined with your existing contract so that they can't be sold separately.
