Add on points question

New member here, a week today actually. I just wanted to get my feet wet and get some point but realizing I might need more then I got. Is there any way to go through Disney to add on point for older properties? After reading these boards i feel i might not get in to BCV or BWV with my 7 month window. So I wanted to know if there is a waiting list through Disney how do you get on it.

The add on process is pretty simple. Call your guide and ask about adding on X points at your desired resort. Your guide can tell you pretty quickly if there is any inventory available to meet your request. If they have available inventory and you have money, the points can be yours within the day and you can begin making reservations with them.

If you want to add on via a resale, the process takes longer (several weeks on average) before you can make reservations with the points. The Timeshare Store (top of the page) has some good explanations of the process and will be happy to walk you through it.

You can add on as few as 25 points at any DVC resort directly from Disney (the minimum is 50 points if you want Disney financing). There are no closing costs. It doesn't have to be a round number or a multiple of 25 points, it can be any number: 27, 81, etc. Disney will only sell you the same UY as your current contract. There may be a waiting list for BWV but it will probably be short. The wait will probably be longer for BCV unless you get lucky and are looking for a small number of points in a Use Year that happens to come in soon. Just contact your guide.

If you add on at a different resort, you will not be able to combine those points with your current contract's points to book in the 11-month window. For example, if you own 160 AKV points and you add on 25 BCV points and you want to book BCV 11 months out, you can only use the 25 BCV points. You can combine the points 7 months out to book at any DVC resort, subject to availability. What a lot of us do is bank and/or borrow points from our small add-on contract to accumulate 2-3 year's worth of points and stay at our second home every other year or every third year.
