We have finally reached critical mass after being DVC members at BWV for 3 years.....and need to add about 50-70 points.

The resale market has got very confusing with changes in ROFR and I am unclear what will work and what will likely fail to get through DVD. $70 was mentioned in a post but is this for WDW resorts. Should I buy the points at full asking price but get the seller to pay closing and maintenance to offset the purchase price or will DVD see through this plan.

I cannot decide on BCV or VB. I actually want the points to spend in VB and this does seem to be the cheapest resale at the moment @$65-67 a point. But if ROFR is $70 then I have no chance and selling on VB later may well be a problem.

I haven't seen any small points packages for BC. Any idea what the going rate is?

Alternatively I could buy SSR. Are there any special incentives even for the small point package that I wish to add on.

Thank you for all your help

If you want VB, then that's what you should buy. Even if Disney takes it back through ROFR, there are plenty of other VB contracts to choose from. I really don't think they will take it though unless the price is way too low.

If you want VB just because it's the cheapest, I'd reconsider. Disney has reinstated there waitlist for sold out resorts and if there are no small resale contracts, ask your Guide to put you on a wait list for the resort you want.

Promotional pricing normally begins at add ons of 100+ points. Ask you Guide to confirm.

Right now, DVC is running a promotion where you not only get a good discount, but also 2 free adult APs (one time use only) with an add-on of 130 pts or more. Probably not a good enough reason to double the number of points you want to purchase, though.

I just did a vb add on through disney giving me the same use year as my vwl. VWL had a waite list as well as everything except Saratoga if I purchased there for a small contract (50 points) it was 95.00 per point then over 100 they were doing a special buy back or 130 points you got 2 ap. I did my add on through disney because the points are availabe not like some small contact's that you dont get for 1 to 2 years. I was able to get the same use year. And no closing costs.

Wow...is that right. DVC is now $95 per point. Did this go up recently......It is like 2001 again when the prices were going up every 6-8 months. Then 9/11 came along and it all slowed down.

Can anyone tell me whether or not for 130 points I get the $10 rebate and 2 Ap's. Presumably this is Magical beiginnings where I give back 2004 use year points for the $10.

Thanks again

The $95 price point has been around since April / May. If memory serves, they raised the price for new buyers in April, but held the previous $89 point for existing DVC members for another month or so.

I know that they are offering at least $5 off, which brings net cost to $90 per point plus the APs. If you have a December UY, you'll get both 2003 AND 2004 points. All other UYs would get 2004 points.

Not sure if they'll give you a full $10 off for foregoing points until '05.

All things considered, you'd probably be better off taking the $5 off and renting the 2004 points if you don't need them.

Thanks for the clarification

Unfortunately I am a little dumb:(

We have a Dec use year at BWV. Is Dec less good than others? Why would I get 2 lots of points if I buy now through disney with a Dec use year.

The reason I am interested is that I would like to keep Dec use year consistent. Makes it all easier to manage. Your last comment about 2003 and 2004 points has piqued my interest.

If I buy from Disney 130 points can anyone tell me if I would get two lots of points AND the chance to use Magical beginnings and the AP's.Can anyone confirm whther or not MB is $5 or $10 a point.

Maybe I should ring disney.......

Thanks again

Well, technically you only get one set of points right now. As you know, you're actually still in your 2003 Use Year. So you'd get those points now and the 2004 set is just around the corner.

I'd suggest asking (rather forcefully ;) ) to have the 2003 points banked if you can't use them in the next few months. You may already be past the banking deadline, but DVC is known for making exceptions for add-on purchases.

DVC will only sell you add-ons that match your Use Year (unless you buy 150 and really insist on having a different contract with a different Use Year.)

You should get 2003 points now. Dues will be charged only for the remainder of the calendar year (pro-rated).

You will also get 2004 points on 12/1/04.

You will get 2 free single-use adult Annual Pass vouchers.

And you should only have to pay $90 per point.

All of this is assuming you add-on at least 130 points.

Good luck!
