Add on now, or wait??? - Anyone????

Okay, we just bought 250 pts. at SSR. That "buys" us a 2 bdrm for 6 nights during the Magic Season at most resorts (not BCV, VWL, or BWV Preffered). We were figuring that we could always stay 7 nights one year (borrowing) and then stay 5-6 nights the next year (paying cash for the other 1-2 nights or staying at SOG or going to Universal).

Here's the question. Should we add on a small point contract (25-50) or should we just leave it the way it is? I think we would probably use the points, but I would hate to get "stuck" w/ unusable pts. KWIM? What is the best way to figure out the right amount of pts? I would also like to buy points before the price goes any higher. Or, should I wait for a promotion?

We planned on 230 points to begin with, but after planning one year's worth of trips, we quickly decided we needed more points and added another 150. I don't think you will have "too many" by adding on 25-50. You will find the more you go, the more you will want to go, and many of us find it is great fun to take others along, thus sparking the need for more points.

I would add the points - but I'm not the best person to ask. I already had 150 points - and my small add on in December, turned into a huge 250 point add on. It's just so difficult to justify paying cash for extra nights on one trip, when you could have those points for years.

Okay, I think we are going to do a 50 point add on. Now the question is, where? Is it better to have all your points at one resort, or to mix it up? If I purchase 50pts at VWL, that doesn't do me much good unless I do some banking and borrowing, just for one stay. KWIM? How big of a hassle is it to book as many points as you can with a little contact and then transfer points from the larger contract?

Please help. I think I am confused. What is the best way to utilize a small contract? Just for booking and then hope for a transfer? After the add-on, I will have 250 SSR (which I love) and 50 at another DVC resort.

We began our VWL ownership with 50 points, and now 2 + years later, we have 150 of them. Our family has grown due to DGC, and we now need more than the studio in December that we bought the points for.

Now, we can bring the extended family to BWV, or VWL in alternate years during the school holiday months and we have the other points for our personal use.
