Add on member points

I bought a 50 point resale contract and I’m looking on adding more points as a direct purchase through DVC. Do I have to buy 150 points to do so? I was told by my guide that I do but I thought I read differently. Does anyone have any experience buying 50-100 points direct as an add on to their resale and not the 150 minimum? Thanks!

You can buy less than 150 if the UY and people on contract are the same

The guide is correct if you want blue card benefits. That's the current minimum to get blue card benefits.

And you must buy 150 direct. You couldn't buy 100 points to add to your resale 50 for 150 total.

You need to have 150 direct points to qualify for the membership extras. However, you can add on less than that if you just want some direct points If same membership., without needing or wanting the membership extras.

RIV, CCV, and VGF require a minimum of 50 points…other resorts can be as low as 25.

Any direct points you buy will be good at all the resorts but the resale ones will still be restricted.

Thanks everyone! Just spoke to another guide who confirmed I can add just 50 points on at VGF so that’s what we plan to do since 150 points just isn’t in the cards for us just yet. Thanks again!

Also just keep in mind it’s cumulative of all your direct points to qualify for the extra benefits if you’re ever interested in that. I bought 2 small direct contracts at separate times to lock in my blue card status.

Yes! It’s tempting. We bought 2 resale contracts and 1 small direct but after seeing how easy direct purchase was and knowing we are only 100 points away from blue card seems like we might take the plunge soon. We like not being restricted from Riv as well.

Also keep in mind that all those small contracts must be kept in order to retain membership extras.

They are tied to those contracts.
