If I have a 200 point contract, and add on 50 points (same DVC resort)...
#1 when i make a reservation, can i tell them if i want them to take the points from the 50, or 200 contract?
#2 If i sold the 200 point contract, am i still able to keep the 50 point contract?
Thanks for the help! :sunny:

#1: When making a reservation, you can also take some points from the master contract and some points from the add-on contract. The same applies even if the 50-point add-on is at a different resort than your master contract.

#2: Again the same applies if your 50-point add-on is at a different resort. You could own a 200-point master contract at SSR, add on 50 points at BWV and then sell the SSR contract.

I have a question!

With regards to the banking window and the percentage, do they treat each contract separately or do they let you figure out the banking percentage on the entire points you own.

For example, June use year. 180 points total broken up in 2 contracts of 150 & 30. If I have 30 left in my 2nd contract do I have to bank them by the 100% window in Nov or do I have until March at the 25% window.

Thanks!!

Assuming your contracts are set up as a master and an add-on contract (same base contract number with ".000" and ".001" appended to the base number) then banking percentages are based on your total points across both contracts.

So, yes, at the 25% banking window you could bank all 30 points from your add-on contract provided you had banked no more than 15 points from the master contract at or prior to that time.

How is Use Year determined when you buy add-on points? Is it actually when you purchase?

Does it matter/help to have the Use Year the same as your original contract?

If you purchase you add-on through Disney, they will only sell you the same use year as your primary contract.

I agree with Chuck. Actually, the only way to get anything different than your current use year directly from DVC would be to buy 150 additional points.

The only times it'd matter in your scenario would be if you were planning on selling, or other wise parting with one of the contracts. It gets far more important when dealing with banked or borrowed points or different home resorts under one contract. While DVC will normally use banked and borrowed points first, they sometimes make a mistake so one should be specific and clear as to instructions. One mistake some have made is assume that DVC would go back and automatically substitute banked/borrowed points that end up in the account for current use year points. Say you had a reservation in the next use year then later banked points into that use year. DVC will not go back and sub those points unless you ask them, even then it may not always be possible.

OK, thanks. I think I'm following that pretty well.

Are the add-on points (assuming buying direct from Disney) the same as the going rate for newcomers on points or do DVC members get a discount?

In other words, if SSR is quoting $101 now (not including the incentive), is that what add-on points cost members?

Are there standard Disney prices for add-ons at the 'sold-out' resorts when they buy back contracts or just a going rate/market driven type thing?

Thanks for your input!

if there is a discount going on at the time, like the friends and family discount recently, that comes off the going rate for points, now $101. dvc members don't have an ongoing discount rate for add-ons, just whatever the incentive is at the time. the member benefit is not having to buy 150 point minimum.
