Add-On Contracts through Disney

Just curious if you can request to split up add-on contracts with the same UY as the master contract if you purchase direct with Disney?

For example, we purchased our first 100 BWV points resale. If we purchased an additional 200 points in the future at the same time, could we split it up into two 75 point VWL contracts and one 50 point BWV contract and have all three still under the master contract?

Would they all be considered separate contracts in the event, although very unlikely, that we would ever want to sell one of them?

Yes, add-on contracts may be in any number of points as long as it's at least 25. They will all have the same Use Year as your Master Contract and will each be a separate contract regarding a future sale, but will all be combined for banking percentage purposes.

Enjoy!

I think DOC answered your question, however I think you mention VWL and BWV in your post. I'm not sure if points at a different resort would be under your same master contract as booking widows would be different and the points would be treated differently for the 11/7 month window.

We just added 50 BCV points as two 25 point contracts. They are registered as xxxxxxx.0 (original contract), then .1 and .2 For the way we vacation 50 additional points were perfect and it was no problem getting the two 25s instead of one 50. I think we will have more flexibility with the smaller contracts if we want to sell (hope it never happens) or transfer them to our children. I don't know if I would have bought them resale that way, as closing cost would be less expensive with a single 50 vs two 25s.

I haven't really done the math, but it seems that smaller contracts seem to sell for more per point than larger contracts. I guess there is a much smaller market for those big 600 pointers, while small contracts are certainly more affordable.

Add-ons at different resorts will all be part of the master contract- with same Use Year and same member number - just as an extension of the master contract as you described. (.1, .2, etc.)

Booking "windows" are the same - reservations may be made at each "Home Resort" at 11 months or combined with the points at other resorts for use at 7 months.

Thanks! Learned something new again- now I see why add-ons can vary in wait time as the same use year has to be available. Banking would be easier as use year is same, Thanks DOC

Thank you both for the helpful information. Your responses started me thinking that while it no longer applies to us anyway as we are already members, does the 150 point new member minimum direct with Disney have to all be purchased at the same resort?

Could a new member request that their 150 points be split between more than one resort?

I'm not sure I understand this. We have 210 pts at OKW with a June use year. If we bought an add on at SSR, should we keep June as our use year?

If I'm understanding correctly, I think the way it works is if you want to purchase directly (not via resale) through Disney to do your add-on, you would need to keep your same Use Year OR if you want a different Use Year, you would be required to purchase a new 150 point contract.

Again, this only applies to purchasing/adding-on directly through Disney. If you purchase resale, you can do whatever you like as long as it passes ROFR.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

No, the master contract purchased thru Disney must all be at one resort. add-ons may be as small as 25 points at other resorts.

All add-ons purchased thru DVC will have the same Use Year. Resales purchases can have any Use Year available. Purchases of 150 (or more) points thru Disney can have a different Use Year.
