Hi there,

We want to add on at BCV or BWV.

DH says that we "must" :rotfl: add on here because he wants to walk to Epcot for the F and W festival events. We would like to be real close so that we can do one of the F&W seminars-go back to room for short break-head back for an evening event.

I've been trying to get him to say yes to adding on additional points since we bought at VWL.

I was so happy when he said that we needed more points. Thats one must that I definetly agree with!!!!

We've stayed at the YC prior and loved the amenities of the YC/BC.

Please I need your opinions about pros/cons of each resort.

TIA

If you have kids who like to swim i would think Storm along Bay would clinch the BCV for you..............not only that BCV seem to be the hottest area for DVCers.............it is second smallest and number one in demand.................meaning resale rates likely will remain stiff

My vote is for the BC. Those never-ending long hallways just took the wind out of my sails last time we stayed there. Imagine...you've got kids with you and you just walked down to the lobby only to go back to the room (which of course is on an upper floor about three from the end of the hall) because someone forgot something. Repeat many times over the course of the week. Thats why my vote is for the BC. That along with Storm-along Bay, the remodeled deli/gift shop, and Beaches & Cream so close.

To me they are both great resorts and you can't go wrong with either choice. They are also in very similar location, eliminating that variable. You can easily walk to all restaurants, MGM and Epcot from either. They both have very similar floor plans.

Here's my condensed list-

Things that favor BWV:
GV's *
Cheaper Standard view point structure *
Better views/ Reservable Boardwalk (& Illuminations)view *
Comunity Hall

Things that favor BCV:
SAB
Dedicated 2 bedroom/ Some with 2 queens in the second bedroom*
Convienent Self-Parking
Illuminations views(but may get road view too)

*need 11 month window

There is always personal taste about the theme and other aspects which will vary from person to person. I like the beach theming of BCV. Also like the oval table with the bench on one side at BCV. However I here the closet at BWV master bedroom is much bigger. The BWV villa may also be slightly bigger as well.

I own at both resorts, so I will add some other plus/minus things for you! I agree with the previous lists also!

At BWV:
Pluses:

Standard and Boardwalk views (I know this has already been mentioned, but it is a BIG one!)

You can walk to both Epcot and MGM (MGM takes about 15 min)

Jellyrolls is there! :cool1:

Minuses:

If it is raining, you have to go outside to get to a restaurant :umbrella:

There is no fast food with refillable mugs (such as Roaring Forks)

BCV:
Pluses:

Stormalong Bay (once again, needs repeating since it is a BIG one!)

Can get to two different restaurants with out going outside

The Beach Club Marketplace- wonderful cafe/gift shop with refillable mugs, sandwiches, soup, gelato, ect!

Minuses:

Lots of people complain about the upkeep of the resort. I personally have not noticed problems with our rooms (we stay here once a year every May) but have read lots of negative reports about upkeep. :confused3

Given all that I will have to say that my personal favorite is the BVC but my husband much prefers the BWV. We own more BWV points but we used the BWV points for 2004, 2005 and part of 2006 for two staterooms on the Magic this past October and my DH has been complaining that it has been FOREVER since he has stayed at BWV!

If they were to add a place like the BC Marketplace over at BWV it would make my favorite a little harder to pin down.

I hope that helped you some, good luck with your decicision!

I cant say for sure but we own at VWL and BCV and have had a fairly easy time with BWV at 7 months, for F&W you will have a hard time at either (so owning one is smart) but it seems BWV may be easier at other times. Plus you can pool hop to BWV but not SAB and as mentioned 2 queens in the second BR is great.

We own at BCV and I also vote for adding on there. It is not easy to get a reservation at BCV so it is nice to own points there. I love OKW but it is easier to get in there, and I am glad we have first shot at BCV rooms. I also feel that if you are paying the higher points for a room, you might as well have access to Stormalong Bay.

How many points are you planning on adding? And will you try resale or through disney? I ask because I have been waiting over a year for BCV through disney - and the small resale contracts seem to be snatched up pretty quick.

I think you will have an easier time getting BWV points, but who knows? I own at both and love them both, with a slight edge going to BWV. I love the guaranteed BWV view so I can see fireworks and love the option of a standard view. I also really love the clown slide.

But I like the interior at BCV better. Like the granite in the kitchens, the separate toilet room and the overall colors.

If I were you, I would put my name in for points at both and then take whichever comes first. Good luck to you!!

We we will add on in the 100-150 range.

We will have to buy through resale unless we want to make a specific trip to Disney to sign the parperwork. We live in Nebraska so because of some complex laws we can only add on if we are present, on the ground, in Florida. Our rep checked with Disney Attorney about this and everything.

We bought our initial VWL contract through resale.

We plan to do so for our add on at BCV or BWV. There is no rush, we'll be patient. We are aware of ROFS and do not expect to get our add on contract the first time.

To a degree they are very similar. Others have pointed out specifics. I'd add that it is likely to be easier to find BWV than BCV. Unless any of the above give and take really sway you specifically to one resort, I'd keep my options open and take the one that comes along first that fits your other criteria.
