Add Manners to the Packing List

I just got back 11/28-12/10 and I thought the rudeness was out of control...we always had 1 or 2, but this time it was a bit much and I ALWAYS let everything slide....I figure I come here 3 or 4 times a year, many of these people only get to come once a lifetime....or once every few years and I let everything slide, BUT NOT THIS TIME!! LOL!! I snapped! I was actually thinking about all the stuff weve written on these boards about rudeness, so when one lady BLATANTLY cut in front of us to put her name on the list at the Liberty House restaraunt, I had to say something...it felt good to be a little self assertive :cool2:

How about the parents who let their little boys STAND ON THE BENCHES during the Beauty and The Beast show. Now I can understand that they wanted their children to be able to see the show, but they totally blocked the view of the people behind them! The little boys ended up being TALLER than a sitting adult! Finally, my DH talked to a CM and she told them to sit them down or in thier laps.
This was a problem we encountered often. So many parents of little ones would let their little kids stand or take them on their shoulders and block the view of my 11 and 13 year old kiddos. I had parents tell my kids that they should get out of a character line so that their little ones could have a turn. Parents would place their young children in front of mine during a parade so that the little ones could see better. Not to mention that we staked out the spots an hour early. The bright side was that my son learned the value of giving up his seat on the monorail/bus to a more needy person. I couldn't be more proud!

I went for our fourth trip expecting more of what the OP posted about (I've experienced it in the past), but was pleasantly surprised with how wonderful people were. We were traveling with our four small children and I can't count the number of people who helped us with our folded strollers on and off the trams and busses. One woman at AK even carried one of them to our car with us even though she was parked closer to the stop than we were. I was blown away by that! We went on the trip with the full intention of handling the kids and all their baggage on our own, and we were amazed at how kind and helpful most people were. We did encounter one or two rude people, but they were the exception. It may have helped that DH and I went out of our way not to use our strollers as weapons, let people without kids go ahead of us or without us in elevators and in lines, and tried to spread our own pixie dust to others when we could. Either way it was by far the friendliest trip we've ever had.
