Add an extra day to our tickets?

Our family of 7 is heading down next week, and this trip is kinda by the seat of our pants, so the budget will be tight. We already have tickets to Universal and IOA which we got at a steal, and they are good for unlimited admission the entire week we are there.

We definitely want to do MK & Epcot and one of the water parks, so I was thinking of getting the 2-day Magic your way ticket with the waterpark option.

What I would like to know is if mid way thru our trip if I end up having a little extra $$$, can I add a 3rd day to those tickets?

SURE!

You can upgrade all MYW tickets within 14 days of their first use.

Yes, as Robo stated you can add days.

If you are only going to one waterpark, I would not purchase the Waterparks and More option, you will spend less money if you pay out of pocket for your waterpark admission.

other than the 4 theme parks, where else in Disney can you upgrade the tickets?

You know, I just posted a question about this a few minutes ago. Here's what happened to us last week:

We had 4 day hoppers, and we couldn't decide if we wanted to add a 5th day. I called Disney about 1-2 months before we leave for our trip and they say, "no problem, you can just add the day when you get there for a few dollars" I was told it would be around $6 for the adult tix and $1 for the kids.

Well, we decide we want to go to a park our last day and dh goes down to Concierge at CR. Finds out that they are going to tax us like crazy and it will cost $18 per adult and $14 per child to add that one day!! With our large family, we're talking around $80. So, I talk to the person at Concierge on the phone and ask if that is correct...he says "yes, if you add on your ticket while at WDW you get taxed more."

I'm not sure if he was right, or if he just didn't know what he was doing (we experienced alot of CMs at CR that didn't know what they were doing). So, I just wanted to give you a heads up about it and let you know what our experience was.

We ended up not going to a park our last day. I was thinking about going to the Ticket window at MK and try there, but I didn't want to waste all that time if they were going to charge me alot, too. kwim?

More likely the meaning of this was intended to be...
as you continue to add more (and more) Park Days to a MYW ticket, it DOES (eventually) reach the point of just costing $6 or so.

But not at the FIVE-day level.
Just look and compare the prices at about 7-10 days.
The cost for adding those last few days is VERY low.

I'll also say that charging $18 more to add a day (at a given number of days) is still very much a BARGAIN.

You have a large group traveling together.
As we all know, if you add all the costs multiplied by a large number of guests... ANYTHING adds up.

You must compare the difference "per person" to get a fair and reasonable comparison to see if any cost is worth the extra funds.

In your case, he gave you the right price for the wrong reason. As Robo pointed out, the price gets lower the more days you have on the ticket. It has nothing to do with taxes. You pay the same tax on a MYW ticket (or add-on) while at Disney as you do if you buy it in advance, buy it from AAA, or buy it from a ticket wholesaler.
