Hopefully not repeating a thread...but just wanted to put this out there that you can adapt a food item if you have allergies without telling DL beforehand!

I went to the Blue Bayou at DL and wondered if I would be able to eat anything on the menu. I am lactose intolerant and most of the items are either slathered in a creamy sauce or has cheese on or in it. I looked at that famous monte crisco sandwich which has chicken, ham, and yes cheese in it. I decided to ask...doesn't hurt to ask. I said is there any possible way that you could make this sandwich without the cheese in it? And to my surprise the answer was of course! Since everything is made then and there, not prepackaged or frozen, the chef was able to accomodate my needs on the spot. Not only that, but the waiter took back my salad before it even reached the table because he noticed there was some cheese that was accidently transferred onto it, so he wanted to make sure I got a fresh one that wasn't cross-contaminated. The sandwich was delicious and I can't thank DL, the chef, and the waiter enough for the superb accomodations!

P.S. I do hear after this day that you can make accommodations before your trip with the Chef to make sure everything is taken care of...but it is nice to know that DL will go great lengths to make sure everything is okay even if you forget or didn't know you can make plans ahead! :goodvibes

I am moving this to the Disneyland board, as this board generally deals only with WDW and the procedure at Disneyland may be different.

We've had similar experiences as dd is gluten free. The chef will even come out and talk to you personally. Very Disney of them!!

DL is very good about food allergies, they want you to have a good visit not a trip to the ER! :)

Agreed. It's probably a logo of theirs. :)

But even without life-threatening allergies, even with sensitivities or *choices*, they want to help you. Disney is simply very good at helping people eat while on their property.
