Adam Walsh's 1981 murder solved!!!!

I don't really remember when happened, but I do remember it mostly because it was from that point we got lot more warnings about strangers, and our parents were being a lot more protective of us whenever we went out.

Adam Walsh disappeared from a Sears store in Florida in 1981. He went in with his mother and asked if she would let him play the video games in the store while she shopped, and she agreed but told him not to leave the video area. While the kid was standing there some older boys came in and started fooling around with the video games. A manager kicked all the kids out of the store, assuming that Adam was with the older boys. The boys walked away and left Adam outside the store. He was never seen alive after that. It's always been thought that someone in a car abducted him from in front of the store.

John Walsh may have made money, but he is not an exploiter. AMW has assisted in the capture of over 1,000 wanted criminals, most of them violent, and quite a few from the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list. Is it really relevant that not all of them were accused of crimes against children?

Sorry, we agree on many things, bu I disagree on this. It seems to me that he has made a fortune for himself by capitalizing on his son's tragic murder.

It seems to me that he has made a fortune for himself?...
So you have personal knowledge of Mr. Walsh's finances.

First off, I sense an insult here. Secondly, it is one thing to focus on missing children, but he has made a career out of 'most wanted' programs, most not having anything to do with missing children. He saw an opportunity for himself and used it. "So what if he made money?" That just exactly proves my point.
Sorry, I stick with what I say.

I was wondering if you have personal knowledge of the budget of "America's Most Wanted". The only TV Show I'm aware of that Mr Walsh is involved in is "AMW" (there were some specials and some kid-safety videos).

People commit their lives to something that they are passionate about. Losing their child to murder would make almost any parent passionate. I'm glad that Mr. Walsh was able to channel his grief and rage into something constructive, something that has helped countless people. What would you have had him do? Become a monk with a vow of silence and give all his possessions to the poor? What should Mr. and Mrs. Walsh have done that would satisfy *you*?

That's nonsense. AMW is about finding those responsible for committing violent crimes - the very crime that Adam was a victim of - and has always profiled missing children. According to their website, that show has been responsible for the capture of 1049 fugitives and 60 missing children or adults. They show and its website continuously run Amber Alerts and updates on wanted fugitives.

In fact, when Adam's story was made into a TV movie in 1983 (and its sequel in 1986), John Walsh insisted that pictures of missing children be shown after every network showing of them. Many of those children were found thanks to those screenings of the movie.

Their biggest obstacle when Adam disappeared was an inability to get the word out about him - the FBI wouldn't help, and they had to rely on their own resources and a police department unequipped to deal a crime on the magnitude of Adam's disappearance. John and Reve only appeared on Good Morning America when Adam was missing because John's college roommate was a friend of the show's host and did him a favor.

Thanks to the work he's done, co-founding the National Center for Missing Children, expanding the FBI database with the Missing Children's Act in 1982, creating shows like America's Most Wanted (not to mention a slew of kid-oriented videos and TV specials) to create public awareness of dangerous fugitives and missing persons, endangered children have a better chance than Adam ever did, and their parents get the help John and Reve so desperately needed when it happened to them.

To say he's just in it to profit is completely ignorant of all of the work the Walsh family has done in the last 27 years.

I've been privileged enough to work on "AMW' a number of times. Trust me on this...I don't think anybody associated with it is getting rich, helping police catch all sorts of criminals, yeah, that *REALLY* pays well. And, btw, Saturday night is usually the lowest night of viewership on TV. And the sponsors pay less for ads. And the network makes less on a Saturday night than, say, a Thursday night with ER or Grey's Anatomy. And "AMW" was almost cancelled a while back.

Well said TDC Nala.

agnes!

Not to mention that Fox tried to cancel AMW because the show wasn't making money and police agencies all across the country rallied to keep it on the air.
Yep he is getting rich off a show that the network claims hasn't made a profit in years. GIVE ME A BREAK
