We went to a hotel in a major chain this weekend. I called to make sure they had a room with a roll-in shower available and was told they did and we were set up. They even had a special department that made special reservations, not unlike Disney.

When we checked in the hotel, however, they did not have ANY rooms with a roll in shower... Not that they were full of other people - they did not have one at all.

I have done some research in the last couple of days and I now know that they are indeed supposed to have one. Brand new hotel with 94 rooms should have at least one roll in shower room for a guest with a disability...

I honestly assumed that the hotel DOES have one, but that the staff (all the way up to the general manager, who I talked to during our stay) just did not know where it was? :confused3 But now this major hotel chain is saying that they have no roll in showers at this new hotel? :headache:

I have tried to call the hotel guest services for two days (national number) and no one wants to help figure it out. I am not one to want to sue. I don't even want my money back (even though we had to change our plans for the next morning since Lauren could not even take a shower.) I eventually told them I will call the ADA enforcement people instead and they said, "OK."

So now I have called the ADA and they have asked me to file a complaint! :scared1:

I have never done this before...

Have any of you guys encountered something like this? Am I overreacting?

I have never done it before but you are not overreacting. If nothing more, it's false advertising. Please file the complaint for the sake of everyone and I wish you the best of luck. Karen

Of course you are not over-reacting! I hope the filing process is an easy one.
