Tell me about it....

I have been running for a little over a month and have more aches and pains than I think I should have. (Tight calves, numb feet, etc.)

I have great shoe, insoles, compresison socks, etc. I have tried stretching, not streching (loosening up), working on breathing, started fish oil, drinking more water, eating better, etc. And I'm still here with the same problems I started with. I am currently reading ChiRunning and am thinking about taking Pilates, Yoga, anything that will help. Anyhow, would Acupuncture benefit in any way shape or form? I'm thinking it would help with circulation in my lower legs and feet. I figure it can't make things worse, right? :confused3

I did it this past summer for infertility issues. It turned out after all that my issues couldn't be helped by acupuncture, but it was a very relaxing, very nice experience. It was a bit on the expensive side, but no less expensive than a Dr. appt!

It's worth a shot. From what I've read and the research I've done, it should help you.

Well after all of the money thrown at shoes, insoles, socks, running clothes, etc. what's another $150 or so for acupuncture. lol

Did it hurt? Did you feel the needles at all?

Haha, I know what you mean. The infertility route is *expensive* so a few hundred bucks for acupuncture really is a drop in the bucket.

It didn't hurt, suprisingly. I didn't know what to expect. The only thing is when they're inserting the needle into the blocked chi path, you feel a little twinge... like a little electrical shock, but nothing painful. You lay there on a massage table, they insert the needles with a little 'tap' and fter they have all the needles in, which only takes 3-5 minutes, they cover you up with a mylar-type blanket (the kind the EMT's use) and they put on nice meditative music, and you just relax for the rest of the session (about 30-35 mins). They said "If you have a 'happy place', go to it. So I went to EPCOT! :lmao: I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Let me know if you do it, and how it went!

I've done acupunture for pain (doctors couldn't find a cause) and it worked wonderfully. It did take maybe 6 or 8 sessions, but because it was for pain, my insurance covered most of it. I think I paid a $20 copay for each visit. We have good insurance, though, I don't know how close that is to the norm.

The needles didn't really hurt going in, just a tiny pinch once in a while, in more tender areas. Since I had foot pain, they put some between my toes and that hurt, but just for a second and it was so worth it to be able to walk again without limping!

I've had acupuncture for about the last year and a half. I love it. Whenever I am feeling drained or like I'm coming down with something I try to get in. I also have problems sleeping and it helps with that. I have also had it done for pain and that has helped. It's very relaxing being on the table with a bunch of needles in (I know that sounds strange but it's true)

The needles hurt very little like others have said. My acupuncturist has these great heat lamps that I lay under and I begin to "float away"...:woohoo:

I have done acupuncture for my back issues. It was a while back and I keep telling myself I have to do it again because my back is acting up once more. But I swear that when I did use it, it worked wonders. I am extremely scared of needles, so I was very skeptical about doing it, but I didn't even feel them going in me. and I would walk out of that office each time, so relaxed and pain free. I would recommend it, especially if you have exhausted all other options. I did it because they couldn't find anything wrong with my back, yet I knew I was in pain and it wasn't just me going nuts. The worst that can happen is it doesn't help and your back at the point you are now. It's always worth a shot if there is a possibility of improvement.

Good luck whatever you choose! :goodvibes
