Tech support: Thank you for calling. How can I help you?

Customer: HELP!!

Tech support: What's the problem, sir?

Customer: My drive started making funny noises, so I put my finger in it to see what was wrong, and now I CAN'T GET IT OUT!!

LOL!

My DH is a tech support supervisor, and he hears all kinds of things.

One call he had was a person that couldn't figure out why his computer was turning off and on intermittently, apparently the loose chickens in the house:confused: were pecking at it and causing it to shut down!

Another one was a person was actually picking up the mouse and touching the screen with it... and they were saying I'm clicking the mouse on the icon. (they thought if you picked up the mouse and had the mouse "touch" the icon it would work)

Those are just two I can think of off the top of my head.

Tech: you need to put the CD in the CD-ROM tray

Guy: oh... I thought that was a cup holder!

Yes, that has been heard all over the net, but my DH actually heard that one day, and had to put the phone on MUTE and ROFL!

My DH has the patience of Job... he really does.

ANd he has heard a ton of callers ask him how to turn on the TV with the computer... (monitor). some people think they can actually watch "thier stories" on the monitor....

Woman: I can't find any of my files on my floppy disk.

Tech: OK let's go through the steps....

after an hour, exasperated,

Tech: where did you store the floppy before?

Woman: I stuck it on my fridge so I wouldn't lose it. Why?

Tech: ma'am.... the magnet erased your file!:faint:

I know that... but we are talking about elderly people that have never touched a computer before. They could never handle that!

They thought thier monitor was a TV.

perhaps they had seen tv on a computer at a friend or family members house.... on one of the home shopping networks, when they have their computer segment they heavily emphasize watching tv on your new computer..

I guess I personally wouldn't think that was such a bad question...
