Just wanted to share what a wonderful act of kindness DCL contributed to .
As part of my job I do nursing home visits at a local nursing /rehab center. One day 2 months ago I visited there and it is usually a pretty depressing place to go. When I arrived there were Disney balloons , characters, posters and tons of Disney cheer. When I asked what was going on they informed me that members of the DCL staff flew up from Florida that morning with tons of gifts for all the residents. They put on a large scale show. They also granted about 20 of the residents wishes. These included new wardrobes, gift certificates for spa treatments, family photography sessions, nights out to local restuarants . When I visited the patients in each person room there were a variety of Disney sweatshirts, stuffed animals , tee shirts ect. The smiles and excitement from the residents was truely amazing. If fact I went back this week and the residents are still talking about their visits and gifts.
I know Disney does quite a bit for children , but the elderly tend to be a forgotten group in our society. I was truely touched that Disney thought enough about them. I do not mind at all paying a bit more for Disney cruises especially when I can see its charity at work. Any one have similar experiences?
