"Activity/Club/Childcare" Centers at Hotels

Hi can anyone give me some information about the different "Activity/Club/Childcare" centers that are at most of the hotels at DW. We are thinking of using one of them in Dec for our 7yr old nephew. Thought he may enjoy some kid time with other kids one evening. There are so many centers just wanted some feed back on them. I wanted to call for reservation this week as I know they fill fast.

in Dec 2001 and my DS, 7 at the time, loved it! He and his sister (4) spent one evening there while hubby and I went to Artist Point. It was our 4th night there. They were really ready for some down time by then. My DD colored pictures and watched movies, my DS played video games. They ate dinner there, too. When we were done eating we went to pick them up and they didn't want to leave as the ice cream hadn't been served yet! We went for a walk for another hour and then picked them up. BTW, we didn't have a reservation until we got there.(this was first week of Dec) Our first night at WL we walked around the hotel and visted there. They let the kids look around. When they said they wanted to come and play there, we booked it at that time for later in the week.

I have a ? for you. Our DD will be 10, almost 11 when we're at WL in Jan. Do you think that she'll be too old for the kids' club? Especially since she's an only and won't have a sibling to "hang" with. I know that they accept up to 12, but is it mostly geared for littler ones? Thanks for any info you can give!

Why don't you take your DD down there during the day so she can see what she thinks of it? There weren't a whole lot of kids there when we were there but I would guess that most were in the 6-10 range.I think an 11 year old would be fine. There were lots of video games or board games to play and the CMs working were very nice. My DD loves to do art and they had many different activities to choose from as I recall. I think I even saw a few books to read, too. Maybe she could bring a book or a gameboy to play with. My kids are very good about going to these kind of places, though, they like to meet new friends. I thought they offered a little something for everyone.

Hope your DD has fun! You will LOVE the WL!! It was our first family WDW trip and my kids still talk about it two years later!!

Thanks for the input. That's a good idea to take her to check it out before hand. Maybe I'll ask her, after Christmas, since the trip is a her Christmas present. If I can keep it a secret that long!

We have used the neverland club at the polynesian while we went to the luau. It is peter pan themed. They give the parents a beeper. The kids walk up a few stairs and are sprinkled with pixie dust. They have dinner and when we went to pick them up we saw 2 of our ds were playing video games, one was the spinner for mickey mouse bingo. Other children were watching a disney movie quietly and they had pillows to rest on, there was a tepee and a grandma type lady weaving some hair things for the kids. Our one ds refused to leave without getting his hair thing. The next night they begged us to go back and pay for it themselves using their allowances. Go figure. There was not one crying kid there and it was very well staffed and supervised. Security was also max. Well worth every penny.

This is so nice to hear! I never even considered using the services, but it does sound like a great option for those who are interested.

With us going in Jan and the parks closing early, it may not be a bad idea so DH and I can go to PI or have a nice dinner with cocktails!

We are considering putting our two ds's (4 & 8) in the Cub's Den when we go in May, so my dh and I can have a nice quiet dinner at Artist Point (love it!). I'm wondering, when do they serve dinner for the kids in these clubs? Do they have a buffet set up and the kids just eat when they want? Do the CM's help them get their food and drinks? (My 8 y/o can fend for himself in this dept, but my 4 y/o still needs a little help)

Thanks for any feedback you can give me on how they run things in these clubs!

We used the Cub's Den in Sept and our DS loved it....he didn't want to leave.

They offer a menu that you choose from when you sign in, it is then served later in the evening...I can't remember exactly what time but I do remember it being kinda late by our typically eating standards (5-6) so we just made sure he had a good snack late in the afternoon. I can't remember everything that was on the menu...typical Disney kid's menu fare though. The ladies were very nice and seemed very comfortable dealing with the kids.
