We are going home to Riviera over Christmas for 5 nights. It will be myself (mom), dad, and our 12 year old daughter and 3 year old son who will turn 4 during our trip. We have decided not to do any parks during this trip. Looking for some non-park activities during this holiday trip. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on where to order a birthday cake for my son, that would be great too. I’m on the FB group Ear for Each Other but looking for advice from anyone who has ordered any cakes recently.

Be sure to stop in at the BC and YC lobbies. The Gingerbread Carousel at BC is lovely, and the snowy village electric train layout at YC is not to be missed. It has mini Disney characters as well as villagers.

In fact, a MK resort tour to see decorations can be fun. The Poly, GF, CR and WL all have distinctive decorations that differ somewhat. Do the monorail loop for the first three, getting off at MK and taking the boat to WL and back to MK to do the 10 minute walk to CR. Or hop back onto the monorail so as not to miss getting off it in the CR Tower. No matter how many times we do that, it's still exciting.

A light dinner or snacks at WL's Geyser Point sets you up for one of the best places to watch MK fireworks. A separate trip by bus to WL might be advisable for that. Don't drive there if you'll have a car as you're unlikely to be allowed in since Geyser Point is QS. Fabulous food!

Boardwalk usually has Christmas displays in the lobby as well. Pre-Covid they involved gingerbread and miniature villages. The 2020 and 2021 displays weren't quite as elaborate, but I hope that in 2022 the displays throughout WDW will be closer to pre-Covid normal.

IOW, plan a tour of resort lobbies - all of the Deluxe resorts offer something special!

Christmas season (a few days 5 maybe before and after) used to be incredible, maybe 10 years ago. Local school and church choral and bell ensembles performed in the lobby.

Go to Deluxe resorts/ DS and tour decorations. You MUST use wdw transportation. Use buses, skyline and monorail.
There is going to people everywhere. Budget more time than you would think.

The deluxe resorts always have music entertainment on select nights before Christmas. Check the schedule and enjoy the decorated lobbies while enjoying the entertainment. Also enjoy a meal at the resort that evening also

If you didn't want anything more special than the Mickey Celebration Cake you can order those from the Quick Service restaurant the morning of for pickup, that worked well for a recent trip or if you need something last minute.

Don't forget about the Swan/Dolphin if you do a resort tour. The Swan usually has a display made of chocolate that smells amazing!!! Also, in the evenings they usually have the walkway between them lit up and the lights are dancing to some Christmas music.

We own here, can’t say I agree it has what I’d term great view of the MK fireworks. However, the theming is perfection for the holidays, even tho like many other of the deluxe resorts, it gets packed.

will say, one of our other ’homes’ has a comparable tree and far less visitors ;)

The Xmas tree trail in DS is also very nice.

Was wondering how the upcoming renovations would effect it this year.
