So after waiting two weeks after closing, we get a letter from DVC today with "congrats...here's your membership #...", so all excited I hop on the member site to register our account (and link it to my existing MDE account), and it says I need an "activation code" that will be arriving with my welcome packet in order to register! The letter I got the member number with said the packet is another 2 weeks away! Seriously?? Why bother sending me the stupid member number if I can't register??

Ugh...tired of waiting.

Since you have your membership number, call MS and select the website help option. They should be able to give you the Club ID (different from Member Number) and one time Activate Code necessary to setup access to DVCMember.com.

Club ID #? What's that?
In addition to your Membership number and your Contract Number, you also have a Club ID. I don't know what other purposes it serves but that is the number they require you to enter when you set up your account on dvcmember.com.

As Michael already posted, if you call Member Services and select the option for help with web access they can give you that info over the phone.

Call Member Services- I never did receive an activation code in the mail. And dont believe them if they try to tell you that your closing company should have sent it to you.

Agreed, last fall I dutifully waited for the package, it arrived and no activation code was included, so I wasted 2 wks. waiting and had to call anyway.

My activation code arrived from DVC by email about a month after the closing. A day or two before, my membership card arrived in the mail. By that time, I had already contacted Membership Services and had already set up my account.

Hi Jennasis! We passed ROFR the same day (or within a few days of each other)...they just got the sellers documents today - argh! They're wrapping up closing tomorrow. Do you know exactly how long it took to get the package with your member number? Here's my dilemma - we leave 2 weeks from tomorrow, 5/30. My AP ran out 4/21. I have until next Wed to renew within the 30 days, and obviously there's no way to get my AP member number by then. So I'd be looking at the regular renewal rate of appx. $575. Now, I could wait until I get there in 2 weeks & buy a new DVC member pass, which is appx $545. But that's risky since I might not have the info in exactly 2 weeks. Then I'd be stuck paying regular renewal of $675!!

Or is there a way to get my member number quickly from Disney before I go, without having the documents in hand?

You can get your member number, club ID, and activation code all over the phone just as soon as you're in the system. You just have to call member accounting to get your member number and then transfer to member services for the rest.

However, in my experience, it took 13 day from the recording of my deed before I was in the system. That deed was recorded the same day I "closed," but my second contract wasn't recorded until two business days after I was informed that we had closed.

So, I think you're out of luck.

No need to be upset. As others said, call MS for help.

Where the Heck is my post?? I replied earlier I guess I'll just call MS.

Le sigh...

Thanks for the info. I'll just do the regular renewal for $575, It's only a $30 difference. Was just hoping for a miracle lol!

On hold with MS right now...there was no "web access" option to choose from, so hopefully I will get shuttled around to the right person. I just let the initial set of options run through without choosing any of them and then it went to another set of options, prompting me to choose English or Spanish first and then there was a "if you have questions about DVC.com" choice, so that's what I went with. Hold time is 8 minutes.

It's Technical Support (#6) on the phone tree after press 1 for MS.

I got it all taken care of. My years of circus training have come in handy...

What phone number do I call to see if Disney has assigned me a DVC membership number? The contract went to closing last week & is recorded on the Orange County deed website. I understand it will take about 2 weeks to get anything in the mail from Disney. I'm headed down next week & would like to get my AP taken care of ASAP, but was told I need to call every day to check if they have a number for me yet. But I forgot to ask what number to call!

Unless they're getting quicker, it will take 10-14 days from recording before they create your member number. You call the normal DVC line and select option 3 for "Member Accounting." Even after you get your member number, it could be another 2-3 days before your points are actually loaded into your account. Calling every days will only make you anxious. Calling every three days should be sufficient.

I guess we're not allowed to post the number.

Look for it online.. or you can probably call a Disney number and asked to be transferred to DVC. Listen for the Member Accounting option... I think it's 3.
