Across the Platform Monorail Hopping

It's July 2003. I'm trying to quickly get from the Poly to Epcot. I take the monorai to the TTC and, instead of going up and down the stairs/escalator/whatever, I press a little button in the silver gate, run off one monorail and right onto the other one. I believe several CMs saw me and didn't appear to care one bit.

Is this allowed or condoned by Disney/CMs, or could I get in trouble if I do it again?

I know that from MK To Epcot you don't have to go down and back up, you just walk across. From Epcot to MK you must go down and walk back up (Or learn to jump over the tracks LOL!)

It is impossible to get from the resort monorail to the epcot monorail at the TTC without either:

a. going down, then up the epcot monorail ramp (the normal thing to do)
b. opening the gate, then waiting for an express monorail, and walking straight through the express monorail onto the epcot platform

Option A is much better and faster than B

If you walked onto the monorail beam, that is the BIG no no. When you walk onto that beam, you are TINKERING WITH DEATH. I am completely serious - the buss bars (the metal bars at the bottom of the beam) carry 600 VDC. If you slip (which you can, there is sometimes oil etc.. on the top of the beam) you will FRY. We carry remote controls aptly named 'kill packs' to kill the power on the beam if anybody gets to close. Even with the kill packs, the beam is extremely dangerous! Whenever in doubt, ask a CM - we're always here to help!

I believe the planets all aligned that day because I was able to hop straight from the Resort Monorail to the Epcot Monorail, going through the express monorail and the gate. If it is allowed, and the Express monorail is already there, with the Epcot one on the way or present, I highly recommend it.

Most of the time, it would be quicker to just use the ramps. You were lucky! However, I would not recommend this practice - to be honest with you, it is not a good idea. What if you started walking through the express monorail and the doors began to close? It will depend on the CM if they care or not. Some really care; I would just have made sure you wern't lost and then directed you down the ramp. If you asked to go through the train, I would have probably obliged.

One thing to keep in mind... many times, the only doors that open on the Resort beam are the far side. It's been a few years since I've been a monorail pilot, but I believe they have someone stationed on the far side now, so that they can use that side more times during the day. If that's the case, the doors on the side of the Express & Epcot trains would not open. And even if they do have folks on the other side, they don't always open all the doors.

Suffice to say, it's always best to follow the rules, and the planned route.

At the time I wasn't aware of the path between the Poly and the TTC.

This July I am staying at the GF and am trying to figure out the best routes around the property.

What time does monorail service start and end each day?

Say I wanted to get from GF to Epcot at least 1/2 hour before Early Entry. Would it be possible?

The resort monorail begins running at 7:00 each am.:D

If it were condoned the CMs woud just press the little button and let every one do what you do. Since they don't, what does that tell you?
