I am procrastinating raking up the acorns in my front yard. We have already picked up 15 bags of them from our lovely, huge oak tree. It has been a long time since we have had this many acorns.

So, anyone else having a banner acorn year? :goodvibes

Would you like me to box up a few of our squrilles and ship them to you? Between all the squrilles and chipmunks we don't see a lot of acorns.

HEE HEE! Thanks but no thanks. Along with the acorns we also have Chip and Dale (and about 10 of their cousins living near us). :lmao: They like to take those acorns, bury them then forget where they put them in the spring. I anticipate weeding a lot of little acorn trees out of my ivy in the spring! UGH!

The Squirles at my moms house sit on her front porch and make neat little piles of the empty shells. Last time I counted 10 plies along a 12 foot porch!

THe weird thing is no one has ever caught them in the act!:lmao:

Aren't lots of acorns supposed to be a sign of a cold winter?

Only have one oak tree at home, but there are tons at work. Last fall, several times I almost broke my ankle on the stupid things. Plus, they usually konk me in the head a few times heading from or towards the car.

At home, I have to deal w/ the @#*&(% sweet gum balls!:mad:

We had a banner year last year. I am still pulling up baby oak trees!! I hope this year is not as bad

We have a huge oak tree in our back yard, too, and the acorns are plentiful - and big!

We have a large shed where dh parks his mower that has a tin roof, and every time I've walked our dogs past it this week I've heard the constant sound of acorns falling and hitting the roof! It definitely seems like a lot of them this year.

Oh my gosh we have soooo many! I was just thinking this morning, I don't ever remember having so many I can't even walk out to the car! The sidewalk has disappeared.

Ummm, so you're supposed to rake acorns too? Hmmm, well we never rake leaves so I guess the acorns will be saved.

That is what we always go by, the excess for the critters to stock up on for the bad winter. Came true too! I have not seen as many as that year, but more then usual this year.

We had one squirels that got into our corn 2 weeks ago, I notices so many more that were on the stalks are down to cores

That being said, my cat Tigger has a pet squirel that visits every morning. I first saw him several years ago an ice storm, blizzard he sat on the windowsill in the kitchen with little clawed hands up begging to come in; ice hanging off his fur.
Yea, with 5 cats, no way. I did put a box with a towel in it.

He would come every morning when dd was getting ready for school and the Tigger would be ready to go out and play :rotfl2:
This little friend still shows up daily at the deck door and Tigger will wake me up to go out.

On the other hand when the heat of the day was too much this summer he would not stay out long, (we are on 2 acres of forested area) but with the cooler weather this week, soon after The bid hunter Tigger came in with not a mouse, but a baby chipmunk. :confused3

Usually he will not kill the chippers, but bring them back like a playmate for the cats. It must have been a mistake this one was 10-7 (out of service).
But you know you have to praise them because cats are being providers and love to bring home the supper....:rotfl:

I would wait on the Acorns. Maybe like last Oct we will have snow covering them,

We have way too many acorns this year. I was (half) jokingly saying to DH that we need to wear hard hats to sit on our patio. :scared1:

Unfortunately, we have lots of squirrels and chipmunks too.
