Hello all! I leave on Saturday to celebrate my niece's sweet 16 and I have the flu! We're talking fever, cough, the works. hoping to be better by Saturday. No way I can cancel and want to make it special. Shouldn't be contagious by Saturday. I just need some fairy dust that I get well and can enjoy disneyland!

Sorry to break it to you, but as long as you are coughing and sneezing you are probably still contagious. I hope you feel better soon!

Get Emergen-C from your local pharmacy or Walgreens!! Take two packets in a bottle of water and chug it. Do this every day and you will really start to feel better!!

Oh no! I would be trying all the shorten duration tactics - Cold Eez or Zicam (you don't really need to be able to taste, right?), airborne, emergen-c, Robitussin and chicken soup and rest, rest, rest!

However, if you aren't over it by Saturday, consider wearing one of those surgical-type masks. That way, at least you'll be lessening the chance of making your niece (or anyone else around you - especially on an airplane if you're flying) sick. This is one thing you don't want to be sharing with her!

We always get struck down at the worst possible times don't we? I think its just our immunity systems wearing down with the stress of planning or something.

I'm not sure if its a Canadian only thing right now but I absolutely swear by Cold FX. This stuff is incredible. I take it regularly to prevent but if I do ever feel a cold or flu coming on, like I did a few days before we left, I double the dose. Seriously, within 2 days, I'm completely fine. Occasionally I still get a cold but its very mild and quick.

If you can get it out there, grab the extra strength stuff. It'll pick you right up.

Have someone bring you Mucinex. It is a Godsend. I got over my last cold in about half the time. Good luck and rest!

Sorry you're not well; have you considered seeing a Dr. to see if he can swab your throat to see if you might need antibiotics? If you do need antibiotics (if it's bacterial) you will feel better within a couple of days for sure. If it's viral it will have to run it's course, and I do hope too that no one else catches it. Good luck!!

YUCK! I'm sorry to hear that. At least you have a few days to pump yourself full of some medication before going to DL. There is nothing worse then being sick when at Disneyland. We went for my mom's 50th birthday last year as a surprise for her, but we were all surprised when 3 of us, including my mom got sick. Our life saver definitely was the cold and flu sinus pills for all symptoms. Caugh, sneezing, fever, headache etc. It cleared us right up during the day, and made the day more bareable. Dont be afraid to take afternoon naps back at your hotel for an hour or so. It will definitely give you much more energy for the rest of the evening, and you wont be missing much during the peak afternoon rush.

I'd go to the Dr. ASAP, like today and if it is the Flu there is that med's they can give you but you have to take it within so many hours of getting the Flu, sorry, don't know much about it, or if it's not the Flu and like the other poster said you can find out if you need an antibiotic and get on it right away too.

You are thinking of Tamiflu - a presciption only flu medication that must be taken within the first couple of days after getting the flu. It is an antiviral drug that shortens the duration and lessens the symptoms of the flu. Call your doctor right away!!!!
