ACK! WTH did I just spend $8 on?

Well, that was not worth it. I just sent away for a copy of my grandfathers birth certificate from the town he was born in, Wilmington, MA. I mainly got it so I could get the birth info on my GREAT grandfather. I already knew the date of my grandfather's birth and the place. I send $8 and a SASE to the town offices, I was expecting a COPY of the BC. What a got was a copy of his record of birth. Which, it looks to me, someone just typed it out, taking the info from his birth certificate. Problem???? Well, for one, it doesn't even say his middle name, and I KNOW he has one. I don't need to know it, I already know it. But it proves to me, that not ALL the info was copied from the BC. The info I needed is also not here. Like my great grandfather's DOB, and my great grandmother's maiden name. I don't even have a middle name for my GGD, and that what what I was hoping for.

So much for that $8. Money NOT well spent.

Your singing my song! As I have done geneological research I cannot tell you the number of times I have sent off for information that I had to pay for only to receive something back that tells me nothing. I have found I only get something I actually need about every 1 out of three times. You think I would learn by now.

Here is the story of my son's BC.

When he was first born his BC had his full name, weight, height, Dr, my maiden name, etc. Then, we added his dad on and the new BC only had DS name, birthdate, my name and bio dad name. That was all.

Then, DH adopted him, and once again we got the full service BC.

In the future, I would try to request the full info when you order it. All 3 of those BC came from the same place, but had different info.
