ACK!!! what happened??

Okay, first off---that is a "good" ACK!! I was racking my brain for 2 days trying to find a decent rate on a rental car for 8 days. Picking up car at Budget at the DoubleTree at DTD, returning to MCO. Looking for economy or compact car (just 3 of us and luggage....going for cheap here!). So, reading thru the boards, I linked to www.rentalcarmomma.com. Found a rate for $172.97 for 8 days on the "little car". Minimized it, talked to DH, who said "grab it!". Went in search of other discounts and codes.......didn't find anything else. Figuring I started this search costing me about $216.90, I figured I'd go back and book it. Well, I plugged my pick-up and return info in and you'll never guess what??? The economy and compact cars came up at a higher price!! No kidding--over $200!! -->(When they were just $172.97!!!!) BUT, I now notice an SUV (mid-size SUV like a Ford Escape) is lower now.....huh?? For the same times and 8 days, the SUV is now only $171.05!!! I don't get it!! A larger car for a buck less????? I'll take the bigger car for the same (actually less) money!! So, has this happened to anyone else, and might anyone have an explanation???? Sorry this is long, but I am so excited.....saving this much money!!!!

It's just a special. Sometimes the inventory shifts and they end up with a surplus of a certain car size at a given location, so they put them on special for a while.

Did the coupon apply also? they have 2 or 3 Budget coupons there that might save a little more.

Also, try their Dollar rates.....don't seem to have blackout periods yet so the savings can be significant at MCO

I think the coupon I have is for a mid-size....I'll have to check that later. Also, we want to pick this car up AT DTD, not MCO....going to return it to MCO 8 days later. (Wondering why?? We are going to Disney for 2 days and then driving to Ocala, Fl to be with family the rest of the week....just in case you were wondering why it was taking us so long to return a car to MCO from Disney. I know most return it they day, or day after, they pick it up!)
