Why do I torment myself this way? LOL I just checked Mary's site and there is a special rate for the Doubletree at DD for $99 that includes breakfast for upto 6 people. We have the new Amerisuites at Calypso Cay reserved for $48 a night w/tax, though. We stayed at an Amerisuites in Flagstaff and really liked it, that is why I booked CCay for our trip plus the price is right. Please help me decide. I have very little info on the Doubletree. Here's a list of pros and cons I have for our family:

Doubletree pros:
Location, location, location
breakfast buffet......but I don't know what exactily that entales, anyone know? If it is a regular breakfast buffet, it would cut down on the food cost. We would only need an early dinner, instead of lunch and dinner. That would offset some of the cost.

DT cons:
price. Although it is a good price, it is still twice what we would pay at Amerisuites.
Can not find any pictures of the pool. A great pool is a must on this trip.

Amerisuites pros:
Price!
Pools
They have a breakfast that we could take back to the room. Unless there is hot food, DH won't get dressed for it. But, we could snack on the fruit and donuts thruout the day, so it would save on snack money.

AS cons:
location. Doubletree would mean we could walk to PI. I could also do some shopping without the guys! (DH and DS) They might not see me for an entire day! LOL

So, what do you think? The extra expense would not kill us, but I don't want to pay the extra if the Doubletree isn't worth it. We've never stayed at a Doubletree, where as we have stayed at an Amerisuite and enjoyed ourselves. Has anyone stayed at the Doubletree? I really need reviews. Would it be worth it? Ack, this always happens.

I tried to edit my post to include the following, but it wouldn't post. Let's try it this way.

I found info about the buffet and it looks descent enough.

Each morning, Streamer's offers an outstanding breakfast buffet featuring fresh fruit, eggs, breakfast meats and pastries and so much more

Pro:
By eating a full breakfast, we would only have to eat an early dinner and maybe a snack. (but that's what fridg's and microwaves are for, right?)

Anyone have any info on this hotel?

I have to say that I would pick the DoubleTree. IMHO the location is worth the expense, on vacations sometimes you need to go off on your own. Not everybody likes the same thing and at the DT you would be able to do that.

If the money is there I say go for it.

I would have to pick the Doubletree. I have heard good things about it. If you use the bus service it will be much better/frequent than anything off property and if there are e-nights, you are entitiled to purchase them should you wish(I believe this is true). Depending on your dates though, you can get a Moderate at Disney for less than that.

The room at the DD is going to be much larger than the Amerisuites.

Busing is going to be much better at a dt hotel, too.

Herc..

I talked to DH and he thinks it is a good idea because of the location. We both agreed that I needed to find more info on the hotel first, though. From what you have said, it looks like we will be switching. Thanks for the help, I knew I could count on the Dis People! :)

If anyone has anything to add, please do. I would love as much info as possible and it seems that this is one hotel that does not have too much info available.
