Ack ... Disney raised prices

Yesterday I was on Disney's site getting rates for a 3 day vacation in January (1 adult 2 kids). The price was about $1600 for plane fare, rental car, ASM regardless of whether I went with the Fairytale Magic Plan or Dream Maker Plan.

Today the price is $1,719.68 for the Dream Maker package and $1,759.97 for the Fairytale Magic Plan.

On the positive side ... the plane tickets are now refundable and the deposit is only $200 vs. $700+.

It's only $40 a day, but still ... that would pay for two lunches for the three of us each day ... wahhhh!!!

Try pricing it without the plane/rental car and see what it looks like. I would personally book my own plane tickets and rental car, as you can then guarantee you're getting the best deal, whereas if Disney does it, they're booking at what ever rates they negotiated with the airline/rental agency and passing that on to you.

By booking separately, you may need to do a little more work to make sure you have all the reservations correct, but you may well save more than that $40/day and be able to have some extra money for nice souvenirs or meals!

I'm sure I could save by booking everything separately, but it drives me crazy trying to match everything up ...

I just did this for a trip to New York City to the new American Girl Place ... going from airline to airline checking schedules & cost, checking the train schedule and cost.

I'm just annoyed that if I'd booked it yesterday I could have saved $119, LOL!!! But I trying to convince my DH to go with me and the grandkids ... am giving him until mid-October to decide whether he wants to go in January or not, then I'm booking the trip with or w/o him.

It's really tough to get him to agreed to do anything in the future, but my granddaughter really wants him to go, so we'll see.

Oh, it's completely understandable - sometimes paying a little more is worth the convenience of having someone else do all the leg work. Really all I meant was that it's very possible it's not Disney that raised their prices - that instead it's something either in the airfare or rental car that changed, as those prices do often change daily as rates change and sell out.

Of course, since there are differences in the packages now, something on Disney's side probably changed, but that could also be due to something similar - rates that aren't available any more at some resorts, etc. You may also want to try calling them directly - often you can get more information out of the CMs at CRO and maybe better rates than trying to get everything right through the webpage.
