Accomodations near Va., Washington or MD?

Hi all ...

We're driving back to Long Island from OKW next week ...
I have done this before but as I get older I think I want to add one more stop over! We already have a reservation in Santee, SC for the first night. I would like to stay over once more and avoid the Friday night rush hour heading east from NY.
Anyway ... anyone have a nice hotel to stay in around the mid-way point between SC and NY?
I was thinking around Washington or Maryland ... maybe even VA?
If possible we like a hotel with an indoor pool ... I know ... fancy schmancy ... but the kids love it ... it's a real treat.

I live in DE and just stayed a few days at the Sheraton in Towson, which is just outside of Baltimore. They were doing a special for the month of June for $119.00 a night.

Watch places that are close to the shoreline; in July and August, many places double their rates and require a three-night minimum. I wanted to stay in Ocean City, MD last year for my birthday in August, but the rate was $330.00 a night and they required a three night minimum. That is how I ended up in Baltimore for the weekend and stayed in Towson, which is about fifteen minutes away. If you have time, they have a wonderful aquarium and the Inner Harbor is fabulous!

I should add if it is a Friday night, you will hit a great deal of traffic around VA, DC, and Baltimore. A great deal of people from VA and DC own summer places in DE. They will be heading south around the end of the work day, so either get in the area early, or wait till later. Around 4:00 to 6:00 pm can be the worst. Expect major delays on the Bay Bridge.
