Is anyone else having a problem accessing their hotmail account? Or is it my wonderful (NOT) computer again?? :confused3:mad:

Mine is fine.......not sure what to do about not getting it?
Is it giving you a message or just nothing?

Ok, it came back last night. Turned off the computer, and its doing the same thing this morning!??

And no, I'm not getting anything, like its just a blank, white page. WTH? What could possibly be doing this? I can access any other page! Thankfully I have a yahoo account and have used that, but still!!!??:confused3:mad:

Any other ideas anyone? Has that ever happened to you, and how long did it last?

I am on hotmail today, but I have been having problems with it for about a week. I thought they were doing maintenance on the site because it would be ok, then down.:confused3

I use Hotmail as my primary email so I check it everyday. I am not having any problems getting in and can't remember ever having one. Try using a different browser or try Outlook or Outlook Express to check it.

Apparantly there were emails from Outlook Express a few weeks back that you would no longer be able to access Hotmail via Outlook Express and I did.

My DH told me..I guess I just deleted them? I could access all my various accts here but now I have to go to a different place he has set up for me to get my HM?

Maybe this is also where you get yours? Guess the link below explains?:confused3

Wow, now I'm confused, too!

I hadn't heard about outlook express and as I wrote above, the only way I CAN access hotmail today IS through OE!!?? Mozilla is my browser but can't access hotmail from it now!!??

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I use Firefox and am having no problems. It sounds like a browser issue with your computer, not a problem with hotmail. If you are using No Script with Firefox make sure you are allowing live.com scripts.

How are you getting to hotmail? If you are typing www.hotmail.com you are actually redirected to login.live.com so if you blocked redirection accidently that might be the issue. Try typing login.live.com to log in and clicking on the mail link to get to hotmail.

Lastly are you signing into hotmail through the standard login page or the ssl page? This is toggled by clicking the "use enhanced security" or "use standard security" link on the sign in page. If you are using the ssl page (which I believe all people should for security) you might just need to update your root certificates.

Here is the email you missed. Microsoft has changed the way Hotmail communicates with Outlook and Outlook Express.

Dear Windows Live Hotmail Customer,

You are receiving this note because you have used Microsoft Office Outlook, Outlook Express, or Entourage to view your Windows Live Hotmail®. Microsoft is changing the way these programs access Hotmail e-mail which will require you to take action.

To continue to receive e-mail from your Hotmail account, please select one of the alternative solutions below before September 1, 2009. After this day, new e-mail can only be delivered to your mail programs through the following alternative solutions.

If you use Microsoft Office Outlook to view Hotmail, you can download free Office Outlook Connector to continue accessing your Windows Live Hotmail within Outlook 2003 or 2007. If you're using Outlook 2002, you will need to change the settings on your program to access your Hotmail. Click here to learn more.

If you use Outlook Express to view Hotmail, you can choose to download free Windows Live Mail (recommended) or change the settings on your program to access your Hotmail within Outlook Express. Click here to learn more about your options.

If you use Entourage to view Hotmail, you can change the settings in your program to view your e-mail. Click here to learn more.

Don't know what you're using to view Hotmail? Have more questions? View the FAQ page or visit the Community Forum.

Why is this happening? Outlook, Outlook Express, and Entourage use a legacy communications method (known as the DAV protocol) to access Hotmail. Because the DAV protocol is not optimally suited for programs to access large inboxes such as Hotmail which now provides users ever-growing storage*, new alternatives have been built. Last year, customers asked us to postpone plans to retire the DAV protocol until more options were available. Now that these options (including the POP3 protocol) are available, we are ready to retire the DAV protocol.

Thank you for using Windows Live Hotmail.

Sincerely,

Your Windows Live Hotmail Team
