Access to RCI "Last Call" Deals

According to the last DVC newsletter, DVC now has access to RCI last call and extra vacations starting this month. (I know it's a short zombie thread.)

Speechless. Beyond happy!!!!! You should have seen me when I got to your post. All wide-eyed and overjoyed. Couldn't believe it.

I have used Last Call/Extra Vacations for years on family member's RCI and II properties. This is literally a dream come true for me! Not to mention not involving others to access it. I really don't mind bottom of the barrel. I have had many enjoyable vacations in various locations through Last Call and Extra Vacations.

Many have been in Williamsburg, which tends to have a lot of last minute inventory. I almost bought a property just for this purpose because I was sad not to have access to these exact options through our II then RCI partnership.

I have no interest in trading points into RCI...but a last minute cash deal? I’ll be all over that. This is great news.

I never find anything that works better for cash options than my other options but then I have sufficient volume and cheap deposits that I can do ongoing searches far cheaper. And my RCI points account is much cheaper for short notice options as well. I find Bluegreen works much better for me than Wyndham since I get a regular RCI weeks account that they cover rather than a locked in corporate account and I can deposit bluegreen to II and RCI very easily (did both today). I do even better with II using Marriott at times, esp trading to other Marriotts and I consistently have bonus weeks available in II. In a sense for those without other options the changes in RCI offer some MINOR benefit but there's still significant limitations more than some of the other RCI accounts. The risk is that members will do things that are extremely poor choices not realizing, like trading to cheap MX options using DVC points and the like.
You come at this from the position of being an expert. You can bounce points off of three sides and drop a prime week in the corner pocket. I respect that.

And your concern is for a complete novice who'll see a last minute cash option and drop DVC points into RCI on accident.

Most of us are somewhere in between.

I'm an expert on the ins and outs of DVC. I'm fairly well versed but certainly no expert on Wyndham.

I have very little experience with RCI. And I have very little interest in taking the time to learn. I'm not interested in dropping points from either of my timeshares into RCI.

With training/experience, I too could master the force and learn how to be an RCI master.

I'd prefer to just be able to use an occasional last call mind trick with cash. Easy to do and I don't have to be an expert on relative trading values.

I think that makes this addition a great option. Not because it's the best I could possible do; it almost certainly isn't. Because it's pretty darn good for my level of interest and willingness to learn.

Clicking through a list to see if something last minute interests me? Paying cash for it if it does? Voila! I've learned as much about RCI as I ever wanted to know!

I'd add that unless one is wiling to learn a certain amount about the exchange process and resorts in question, all the more reason they shouldn't play. Having knowledge is what tells me it's a specialty option with little help for most but like exchanging in general, there will be the exception.

ok officially member- no longer says pending in my status- still getting an error message for RCI? Really looking forward to the last calls help!
Phone DVC Member Services and ask them to walk you through. I'd guess there remains something 'incomplete' on their side that needs to be mended.
