Access to Points?

If you only put half of the deposit down, do you still get access to the points or do I get to use them once we close? Also, I'm going to need to borrow from the next yr, is that possible as well before I close?

When buying direct from Disney, you will be able to access your points before closing. We had our guide make two reservations as part of our agreement to purchase. I forget at what time (sometime before we closed) we had to call and have the reservations transferred from holding to our membership number.

For these two reservations, we did borrow (although only 5 points) from our 2010 points.

Yes- the points must be available for the time you want to travel not always the time you make the reservation.

We put down our deposit at 930am and at 300pm that afternoon once the initial paperwork went through we were on the phone confirming the ressies out Guide made for us.

At your HR you can book as early as 11 mos before checkin date you'd want; at non-HR's you have to wait until 7 mos or less before checkin date you'd want to make reservation; MS will 'see' what points you have available to book with/use for your trip - that may be banked points valid during the UY when the trip will take place, current UY points and points that may be borrowed from UY immediately following UY during which trip takes place - ie trip on 8/23/10 can be booked tomorrow on 9/23/09 at your HR's 11 mos owner's priority booking window, and if for example your UY is October then:

Oct 2008 UY points which have been banked can be used for this trip AND
Oct 2009 UY allotment of points (which would be current UY allotment because trip occurs during your 2009 UY) can be used AND
if needed Oct 2010 UY allotment of ponts may be borrowed into 2009 UY by MS to be used for this trip
