Access to multiple staterooms?

I thought I read somewhere that you can go to guest services to have your card be given the ability to access a second room. Am I remembering this correctly?

They will give you a blank key card to access another room, and IIRC you need both parties there so someone in the other room can authorize it. We got extra cards for my in-laws in a non-connecting room on our last cruise.
