Okay my question is about the GPA requirement for the CP

It says you are required to have a 2.0 and be in good academic standing

I've always been in good academic standing. I haven't always had a 2.0 though...I kind of slacked off my first semester (in a big way) and I've worked my butt off since, but as of Spring '08, my GPA was just barely under 2.0
After talking to my advisor...he said that it would nearly be impossible for me to not have higher than a 2.0 after completing this semester...so my question is

are they going to check my GPA before this semester is over? Or will they verify my GPA after I complete this semester?

I would think they'd have to do it after. Especially for people that are in their first semester, and in the case someone drops below a 2.0 after the end of the semester...right?

But does anyone know? Because I don't want to get my participation cancelled. Wouldn't that mean I couldn't reapply?

Anyway, my school couldn't help me with my question, and I really need to accept soon. Please help

I need help for this too. I'm actually taking 4 classes, 3 of which I'm doing really good in. The 4th is a developmental math class that I only went to for 3 days I think (it's only once/week), but then I took the placement test for the college I'm transferring to and I got placed into advanced math so I didn't see a point to continue attending the other math class. In my school you can't drop developmental courses, so I just stopped going. I know it's going to severely affect my grades, but I don't know how to convert number grades to the 4.0 GPA scale so I have no idea if it would be above 2.0

If it isn't, does anyone think that explaining my situation to Disney would help? It's not like I really slacked off but I sort of failied it "on purpose". Jeeze now I'm worried.

I am not positive. But I am going to guess that they confirm it after the semester is over.

PS where does it say about the 2.0? All I see is this -

"Students also must meet any additional criteria their school requires for participation in our program. This may include, G.P.A., grade level, and number of credit hours earned. Schools will be contacted to verify eligibility."

You can use this to see what your GPA will be. http://www.back2college.com/gpa.htm Of course they look at the cumulative GPA, so if this isn't your first semester, you'd have to divide your total GPA from each semester by the total number of hours you attempted. It explains it. My academic advisor showed me this when I wanted to know my projected GPA by the end of the semester.

It says it when you go to accept
It says this:

"Your School Will Be Contacted to Verify Eligibility
Your school will be contacted prior to your arrival to verify that you meet the following participation requirements:
You were enrolled as a full time or part time student at the time of your interview.
That you have 2.0 or higher cumulative G.P.A. and meet your school's requirements for "good academic standing".
That you meet any additional criteria your school requires for participation in our program.
If your school indicates that you do not meet the participation requirements, you will be contacted and your program participation will be cancelled."

So yeah..I guess I wasn't aware that they were going to ask for GPA...I knew they wanted you to meet your school's requirements..which I do.

Anyway...Will I not be able to reapply if my participation gets cancelled?

Okay *WHEW* that just saved me from a ton of stress lol

And I do think you can definately reapply. I don't see why they wouldn't let you. I've heard cases of people getting sent home for different reasons at check-in and then they go back the next year or semester. Good luckkk! And thanks so much for the help :):):)

Just curious.. what's the equivalent of a 2.0 GPA for you guys? Because at my school (in Canada) a 2.0 is like a D average, which would be pretty low lol!

I'm pretty sure 2.0 for us is about a D also. I was worried because I stopped attending a class that I didn't need, but I found that that it wouldn't factor into my GPA so I'm cool now. ;)

A 2.0 is a C average, which still isn't outstanding or anything...but it's average.

And just to let everyone know...I'm not a bad student or anything. I just had a bad first semester. I didn't officially withdraw from any of my classes, I just stopped going and therefore received all Fs. It's hard to bounce back from.
I don't want everyone thinking I'm huge bum or anything :worried:
I grew out of the bum phase really quickly.

I feel your pain. Many moons ago, I had a very bad 3rd semester and got hit with 4 hours of F (F is for French, right? ;) ) Just that little bit really did a number on my GPA, and you are right, it's very hard to come back from. Good for you for sticking with it and making that comeback!:cheer2:

I'm having a bad semester right now...Thankfully I withdrew from two classes but should have from the third. That one I've just stopped so I am getting an F for sure. At least my other class is going quite well for me and I had a decent GPA before so I should still be ok...

So I did the Spring Advantage 2008 college program and my gpa is well under 2.0, and Disney definitely doesn't check! otherwise i wouldn't have been there. and if i was you i would definitely do the program. it is awesome.. well worth it.

yeah to be honest, I don't think they actually check because I know someone who was essentially flunking out of college and did the college program.

Then he gave alcohol to a minor and got kicked out, but the point remains.

Also if you accept and they deny you, you can still apply again next semester. You can apply once per semester. The only time there is a restriction is if you're on a restricted rehire status, which wouldn't be the case for you
