Accept CP invite, but then cant go?

I have a quick question.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a penalty or consequence if you accept the invitation to the college program, but then cannot go?

For example, another job opportunity arises, or need to take more classes, etc.

I'm not exactly sure but I think I read somewhere that you just can't get your $100 deposit back but nothing else really happens.

Yep! It's just that you can't get your $100 fee back, that's all!

I'm not sure how it affects your ability to apply the next year, I don't think it should. You just have to wait 6 months to apply again!

It does not affect your applying again, as long as you haven't actually gotten down there yet and then changed your mind. They just don't like if you leave them hanging. So if you get in, but then change your mind, decline the offer. And if you get in and accept, then call them and tell them it just won't work this semester, and you'd like to give your spot up to another worthy person.

Also, sooner you do it, the better, so people who are pending can have a better chance.

I had this happen to me. I was accepted for Fall 2009. I accepted my invitation, paid the $100 and then got an amazing job opportunity. I declined the program and reapplied for Spring 2010. I got in with no problems and now I am down here at Disney. Don't stress. Just handle it professionally and your life will be good.
