Well the divers will have a morning show for show for ship arranged tours, fort of San Diego, Casablanca hotel (great view), Dolores Olmedo (Diego Rivera Murals), FLamingos Hotel (one of the first hotels with a lot of history), Fort of San Diego, Mask Museum (next to fort), Zocalo (Main square with a nice cathedral), any beach near by (I would prefer Tlacopanocha, next to the Malecon fishers warf west bound on the main road), La divina Liquor store (4 tequila or vanilla)

There is very little time to arrange a good tour; so, go see the morinng divers, then to Casablanca hotel Dolores Olmedo, go to fort, mask museum and maybe a brief stop in the Zocalo and back to the ship.

Brings back so many happy memories. In the early 80's we spent two weeks in Acapulo. The company owned two villas high up on the mountain in back of the town. It was staffed by servants and a cook. Took 36 rolls of pics. Went to the market almost every day. Looked thru the pictures yesterday. Most days we swam in the pool and ate and drank all day, wonderful being waited on hand and foot :cool1:

Could it have been Las Brisas? they still have the cabanas up on the hills over loooking the bay.

Thats correct, since the Magic will have such a short stay in Acapulco; the ship arranged tours will have a private show (for ship arranged tours at 08:00 am) If you do not want to take a ship arranged tour, not to worry, you can take any taxi and ask to be taken to the divers and you can watch the show from La Perla restaurant for $14USD per person or from the lower observation platform managed by the divers union for $7USD per person (double the normal cost due to the "private show"
The Fort opens from 09:30 am till 06:30pm closed on Mondays, I am cofindet you will have plenty of time to do both and maybe visit a few intersting places close ot the divers, such as Casablance Hotel, Home of Dolores Olmedoi (Diego Rivera Murals), Zocalo, etc.

Thank you so much for all of the excellent information - how can we find out the show times for the 22nd August when Disney Magic will be in port only for the morning unfortuately. We would also like to visit the fort but need to time this around the diving schedule. We would rather do this on our own than a Disney tour.
Thank you once again for your kind help.

Since it's a provate show, no way to know the times and the Tour operator will not release the info. The best way is to look at the exit time for ship arranged city tours and add 20 minutes from that, they usually take them to the divers first. The fort opens from 9am til the afternoon, so, leave at the same time the city tour leaves and you will catch the diver show.

We are on the WB cruise. We are in port for the day. I would like to know which beach is best. The DCL trip goes to Morro Beach? Good place? We would do it on our own though. I would also like to know about Horseback riding on the beach? How much and where? One last thing, we will be going to the 1:00 diver show, but wanted to see some churches, where are the most beautiful, older churches?

Thanks so much!

Si somos mexicanos, ¿tenemos que pasar migración en Acapulco? Estamos pensando muy seriamente en dejar ahí (con mi suegra) una maleta con nuestra ropa sucia de la semana y queremos saber si hay algún problema.

Saludos y gracias,

Julie

Do you know what time the DCL arranged morning divers is scheduled for?

Hi, I just saw thes messages.

El morro beach is located inside the bay area of Acapulco, no horse back riding in this area and the sea is a bit rough to swim in. Personally i woulds prefer the calm beaches of Caleta where you can sit in the sun and enjoy a cold beer or go to La Roqueta island where it is nice and secluded.

Horse back riding is located in the beaches of El Revolcadero, Princess hotel, etc. About 45 minutes away from the port, I do not believe you will have enough time to go to and from, then divers; it would be to tight.

There is only one big cathedral in Acapulco, in the main square (Zocalo) very close from the port. You can go either on your way to the divers or back.

Solo deben pasar por la Aduana y listo, no hay mayor problema; (suegra incluida)

Do you know what time the DCL arranged morning divers is scheduled for?

We do not know the times the ship arranged tour will have the cliff divers show, but, just look at the departure times and add about 20 minutes to the mix and that should give you a good idea.

¡Hola Roberto!

Roberto, sorry I have asked this a bit before, but would like an update,

For our August cruise we are in very early indeed, 6.30am then leave at 1pm.

Will the fort be open normal time, ie 9.00am or do you think they will open it early? I know its across the footbridge form the port. Would it be open early just for the DCL trips, or for everyone?

Do you know the cost?

Also Tom above asked about the Cliff Divers, any clue what time the show will be staged for the DCL trips, or any extra ones if they knew we are in early.

Lastly the Market, I know this is a few blocks back form the Ship, what time do you think that will open? Will they open early if they know the Magic is in early,

Sorry for the long questions, but we are booking soon and looking at the options

Ta, and thank you so much for your informative posts,

Lastly, cheeky question, have you herd anything about the Magic coming back through you in 2010?????

Regarding your questions;
The fort will open from 9:30am to 06:30pm, the foot bridge is opened about 09:15 am. cost about 3USD (35 pesos to be exact)

For the cliff divers, look at the ship arranged tours and any of them mentioning cliff divers on the tour will have a private dive arranged, I am assuming that as soon as the ship arranged tour leaves, that they will start having shows since they will have a big group leaving to see the show. The tour operator does not share this information so people will book tours, but once the tour start they will have one show every 35 minutes till the city tours end, i recommend going to the first show in the AM with the city tour group.

The flea market usually starts opening their shops from 09:00 to 10:00 am. regardless of a ship in town.

At this point I have not received bookings for the 2010 season yet, I hope they will decide to pick us again, the latest bookings I have from any other cruise line is may 2010, (Princess,Celebrity and a small cruise line)
