2 Questions.

Are you allowed to book your seats on Tango (Pearson to MCO) in advance?

Are you allowed to book your seat during the 12 hour (prior to flight)check in window ?

Thanks

I always book Tango Plus because it says in the fare conditions that you have to pay $15 extra for advance seat selection for Tango! Don't know if they actually enforce this, but it really seems like nickel-and-diming you to death.

Don't know about the time window for seat assignment.

Hope you can get your seat assignments without paying extra $$.

Yes, you can book your seats as soon as your 12 hour window opens up.

Once you log in (with your Booking Reference, or credit card), and you go through the steps in selecting your seats, you have the option to exit without printing your boarding pass.

But you will have your seat assigned.

Just a reminder though, you cannot check in online with AC from MCO(as of Feb 27/06)...so get to the airport early if you decide not to pay for seat selection on your trip home.

It was dicey for us coming back to get seats together.

If we fly AC again, we'll pay for seat selection, ie, Tango+.

HTH!!

I'm not clear what you mean by this.
Is the seat assigned by AC or do you get to choose ?
Thanks

I've been charged the two times I tried to book seats in advance. Now I just take my chances at check-in.

WORD OF WARNING!

ALWAYS HAVE A SEAT SELECTION!

AC OVERBOOKS BY 10%!

I learned the hard way! :lmao: :lmao:

Sorry, I meant that once you select your seat (within the 12 hour window), and you can't print your boarding pass (for whatever reason), not to worry, your seat is assignment is complete.

And as of Febrary 27 (this may have changed) you CANNOT check in online from Orlando for your return flight.

You have to take your chances (if you haven't booked the Tango+, and paid for seat selection in advance) at MCO airport...which also means that you're checking in through United's faciities.

...and sometimes, they don't have all AC's information on you..ie, your Advance Passenger Information, (passport info and such), that you're on a connecting flight, etc, etc...

Just get there early. Be prepared to wait - we've never seen more than 2 United agents working on checking in AC's passengers...that's annoying all on it's own.

That should be about as clear as mud;)
What we learned for our next trip (at some point, airline travel for us will get easier, I hope!!), is that if online check in isn't available, we'll pay for the privelege beforehand.

...which is just what AC wants, I'm sure.

Like Northstar said, it's all about nickel and dimes:)

ALWAYS pay the extra for Tango plus!
If you cannot prebook your seat you DON"T have a seat!
If the flight is sold out (as they ALWAYS are) you will be bumped!
If flexibilty is good for you fine, if not...pay the extra!

If I have booked on Tango already, can I add the Plus "after the fact".?
If so, would i do this online or over the phone and how much of a choice do I have with the seating (ie:are there only 10 or 12 Tango seats on the plane?....Where are they all,...at the back?)
thanks

From AC's FAQ page:
Do I have to pay for my seat selection when I purchase a web fare?
Answer
Seat selection is available and free of charge for all the web fare except the Tango fare.

Paid Advance Seat Selection (for TANGO fares only) is available for CA$15/US$12/GBP$7 (plus taxes) per passenger for one-way flight from origin to destination including connections.

The seat selection process appears once you have "purchased" your ticket on aircanada.com.

I would try online first, under View/Change my Booking, perhaps..?

If you call them, ask if there's an additional $5 charge for the Res Agent to process the seat selection, before you do it.

The only thing that could stop them from assigning your seat for the $15 charge is if the flight has already gone to Airport Agent status...which means that ResAgents can't make anymore seat confirmations, only Airport agents can access the seat confirmations.

But that's usually in the last days before a flight goes...as it gets more and more booked, or overbooked:teeth:, as the case may be.

Edited to add:

Found some more info:)
Can I select or change my seat assignment?
Answer
There is the option to select your seating during the on-line booking process on our web site if available. If you have already made your reservation, it is not possible to select seating on our web site and you would need to please call :Reservations for seat selection or you may do so upon checking-in for your flight.

Please also call Reservations if you need to change your seat selections or for any other inquiries in this regards.

I called Sears Travel tonight (who I booked my flight with) and they were unable to do an Advance Seat Assignment. They claimed that AC would be unable to do it as well.
Anyway,I called AC and surprisingly I got through right away :) and very simply added $15 per person to my one way fares on my CC.
I received an email a few minutes later with the new itinerary.
As for the actual seat selection, I opened up the Seat Guru website (which is very imformative BTW)and looked at Air Canada, then clicked on the aircraft (Airbus 320).The Customer Service lady then asked me what seat do I want and I looked for my choice (within the "cheapie" area :goodvibes )and then let her know.
I did'nt see the point on moving up to Tango Plus because that would have been another $15 per person and although the seat selection is free with Plus, the other benefits didn't seem worth it.
