? about weekends?

We are planning our next trip which will include two weekends which are more points. What do others do if they don't want to use double to triple weekend points? Thank you

I like to start my trip, if it involves two sets of week-ends, at a value resort. That way, I can be in WDW for Fri and Sat nights, then move over to BWV on Sunday. And sometimes, if I'm really feeling cheap, I'll end the trip at a moderate!!! That way I pay for no week-end points. But you will find that others will say this is too much work. But it's almost like 2 or 3 vacations rolled into one for me!!!

you can split your stay. Maybe pay for one weekend on points and then try another resort for the weekend or stay at the same resort and pay for it with cash.

I just can't justify using all those points (but that's me).

go to a value resort - I love Pop Century or stay offsite...

if you are staying 2 weeks - then stay at your first DVC resort - then go to a value resort - then back to another DVC resort...

or that is how I would do it with DVC

when I stayed 2 weeks - the first weeks (with the weekend) was offsite timeshares - then I went to DVC resort.

1. I have split my stays starting at a value or mod on the weekend, moving to DVC Sun-Thrurs night then back to a mod or value for the weekend and abck to DVC for another week.

2. I have started on Sunday with DVC 1BR through Thursday and then switched to a studio in the same resort for the weekend and back to a 1BR for the week.

3. I have stayed for 17 days straight in a studio to avoid the moving.

4. Buy more points

5. Go during low points seasons/stay at OKW

For us the space is a premium and I really love the 1BR so the moving is no biggie for us. My favorite way to stretch the points is #2.

Last Aug DS & I stayed Sat (cash disc), Su-Fri (points), Fri-Sun (cash disc) at VWL
then moved to BCV Sun-Fri (points) and Fri night (cash disc). Two resorts, 1 switch.

The Aug because DS really really wants to stay at AKL we're staying VWL Sat (cash), VWL Sun-Thurs (points), AKL Thurs-Sun (I wanted 3nights so we have 2 full days at the resort), and hoping for BCV (points) Sun-Fri. I have BCV reserved at cash disc Fri night. Three resorts, 2 switches.
If I cant switch to BCV that 2nd wk we do have VWL booked.

We do cash discount on the weekends usually to avoid the moving. This August we are doing Friday and Saturday at the Dolphin. I got a teacher's rate of $155 per night! Then we move to BWV for Sun and Mon then off to Vero Beach and a cottage for Tues, Weds and Thurs. We're traveling with another family of 5 this trip. We saved points to splurge at Vero and we get 4-5 days at the parks too (depending on when we get on the road on Tues)

In a few days we will try a split stay for the very first time. Monday through Thursday we'll stay in a 2BD at OKW, then Friday and Saturday we'll stay at Port Orleans Riverside. Go back to OKW for Sunday through Thursday. Go home Friday.

The only problem is we will have to go to the grocery store twice since we do cook alot while we are there. I have to make sure not to over buy since we can't refrigerate it at POR.
