? about UT bundle deal

So I just got a good car rental rate for a week when I booked it as a bundle. I added a "dummy" room for 1 nite (a $40 room that I will not even need to stay in ) and it brought the total price car and room to $227.01. My stupid question is for anyone who has done this- Do I actually need to go to the hotel and check in? If I don't will UT charge my credit card for the difference in the rental car? I hope I am explaining this right. Thnak you to anyone who can answer this.

People have booked "throwaway" hotel rooms in order to take advantage of package air for years. I've never read about it for your TA or with car rentals.
