? about upgrading to AP

Hey everyone. We are going to be getting AP's this year and we are getting the So Cal Passport since we usually go on Sundays or during the week anyway. Our big disney trip is planned for Oct. but we thought we'd go in May for a day trip. We will probably be going either Sun. or Mon. (of Memorial Day weekend) and that is a blockout day for the passes we want to get so can we get a regular ticket for that day and then upgrade them to the AP? If so, do we do it at the end of the day or can we do it anytime during the day? And where do we upgrade - the ticket booths or somewhere else? Thanks for any and all info!

You upgrade at the ticket booth any time. They will take the amount you paid for your ticket and apply it to the cost of the AP. Before you leave the park, go to the processing center at the bank just inside the park to get your picture taken and get your pass. If you wait till closing to do that, sometimes the line can be quite long.

If that is the day you would be getting your pass, you don't need to get a different ticket. Your AP would be active on the first day you purchase it, even if it's a blackout day. I got mine over spring break blackout days. It works the first day, after that on any blackout day you'd have to buy a one day hopper pass for $30.

Illuminations Rocks is right. I did the same thing during Christmas break. We even went to both parks. Be sure to bring your receipt for parking. They will apply it toward your annual parking pass, if you get one.

Yes, Illumination R and DisQueen are correct! You can enter the parks on the day you purchase an AP - we usually go on a blockout day if we plan to renew our passes...this way we can get a "whole" weekend rather than just Sunday!
