? about Universal Studios GC

Can Universal GC be used in the parks to purchase items such as souvenirs/tshirts, etc..... on another board someone replied that they were traded in for universal "cash"?

A Universal gift card is as good as cash and used the same way you would use any other gift card like Disney, Home Depot or whatever.

I picked up the GC today and this is what it says:
Universal Orlando Resort $25
Redeem GC for $25 towards admission tickets or universal dollars at any universal orlando resort ticket window.

The gift card can only be used to purchase tickets or redeemed for Uniuversal bucks. The Universal bucks can then be used to purchase suveniers, food, etc. The gift card is not used like most gift cards. It must be redeemed at Guest Services for Universal dollars if you are planning on buying anything except tickets.

Universal gift cards are not like other gift cards, (ie, Disney Gift cards). Universal gift cards must be taken to guest services and changed into Universal dollars (bucks). We found this out the hard way, after we ordered our lunch at Mel's and then I had to run to Guest Services to change the gift cards in before we could use them. I can't imagine why they work this way, they have a strip on the back. My local grocery store, Giant Eagle, isn't even carrying them anymore.
