??? about trans dvc points

We are looking into dvc. I see that ppl can trans dvc points from one person to another. How would this work if we had 2 different dvc memberships? Say we had 150 BCV and 150 OKW and they had the same use yr. Could I just trans my OKW points to BCV if I wanted to make a ressie at the 11 month window? IF not then just how does the transfer thing work? If not then how does the points trans work? Thanks

Although Member Services is having some technical software issues that affect transfers, here's how it's supposed to work. Transferred points retain their same use year and home resort priority. That means you CANNOT bypass the 11 month priority for any given resort simply by transferring points. Points can only be transferred if they are "current" points. That means that banked and borrowed points cannot by transferred. There are exceptions when there are multiple contracts of a single owner handled on a case by case basis. The only reasons to transfer for a single owner are to pool points to use as one group like for a cruise or to get enough points for that last night of a reservation.

You can transfer points from one account to another (even from another member) BUT the points retain thier original point designations. in your example, if you transferred points from OKW contract to the BCV contract they still can only be used at 7 Month out.

Also if you get points from another memeber (or your contracts have differetn use years) the points transferred still expire when they would have. Example you have 150 BCV points with an August Use year, and get points transferred to your account that have a Feb use year, you would have to use them by they expire at end of Feb.

Hope this helps you out, this is one of the more tricker parts of DVC to understand (banking/borrowing and transferring).

Thanks so much for te help. I understand this a little better now.
We are planning on joining dvc and I want to have all--or most--of my questions answered before I go on the tour since then I will be blinded by all my excitement. I have been going back and forth between BCV and a reseale. I really want BCV, we plan to stay there the most. But the resales are hard to pass up when I can get more points for less $$. We are a family of six so I'll be needing all the points I can get. When I go on my tour will they just show me BCV or can I request to see others since I could stay at them?

They have mock ups of the rooms of each resort at the preview center. At least I remember them showing us more than the VWL when we took the tour in Jan. They didn't have the BCV model room yet. The day after the tour we went to VWL (where we had bought) and saw the model room they had there, and looked around our new "HOME".
