About to send in our DVC purchase papers... need reassurance

I thought better too many then to little!

We could have bought more later, but that would require a second appoval from DH. Better to do it in one shot!! ;)

Has anyone intentionally bought extra points to give or bring family and friends along???
We have a few family and friends that couldn't handle this type of vacation financially. We thought having points would allow us to bring them along without it seeming like we were paying. We wouldn't want them to feel bad, but would like to share! Has this worked for others?

DW and I decided on only 170 points at BCV when we purchased last year. We banked our first year's points and are going down for eight nights this year on our banked points from last year and some of our 170 points from this year.

As I figured it out, we could do a 1 bedroom on banked points for four years straight if we did 8 nights this year, and 7 nights the next three years.

In looking at it from your standpoint, if you are only looking at going every other year, 300 points might be a bit over the top, unless you are looking at a 2 br, but it sounds like you already decided, so WELCOME HOME!!!:bounce:

yeh, when we go on vacation we want to do it well. The kids will need their own beds and we want our own room... so a two bedroom it is. (we will squeak by with a 1 bedroom this year while the little one is still in a crib) Also we may need to go during school break. I just can't bring myself to take my older one out of school for more than a couple days. 300 might still be a bit too much, but as many have said... "you can never have too many points" I'm sure we will use them up! HH and VB look nice too!

If the size of the purchase is the issue, buy one contract of 150 points and see how you do. You can add on later.

If you want to get 300, then I would do it in two 150 point contracts. It is easier to sell a 150 point contract on the resale market.

You could also explore the resale market for your purchase rather than buying direct from Disney. There are pros and cons to each, but you might want to explore it before you make a final decision. I have done both. Used Pat Spell at The Timeshare Store (see link at top of screen) for the resale (very good experience).

Good luck.
