About to BURST into tears-- honeymoon falling on "Jersey week!"

I am from New Jersey and I took my DGDs last Nov. during Jersey Week. There was definitely more people than normal during that week, but a lot of the crowds were from rescheduled trips after the hurricanes. NJ is the third smallest state...how many Jerseyans can there be in WDW during one specific week anyway!? :confused3

If you run into a lot of crowds just follow a few tips- go early- take a break- humm what could you do on a honeymoon- what could you do :cool1: use fast pass and have fun- be sure two wear those silly hats and everyone will bring you magic anyway! :goodvibes

I wonder if she even KNOWS about the silly hats???? pirate:

Thanks everybody! I actually grew up in New Jersey, so if I had to pick a people to fill up the parks that day, Jersey people is a good choice. :goodvibes

I think we'll be ok-- We'll have 4 days there before Jersey week to power thru the parks, and then 4 days to chill when the parks get more crowded, if they do. We are leaving on the day that the kids officially have off anyway, so we'll probably miss most of the crowds anyway.

Should be ok-- people can't seem to agree if the parks even GET crowded during that week!

We were there this past November during Jersey week and felt the crowds were quite manageable. I would go back during that time again. You will have alot of fun!!
Oh, and congratualtions!

I was there last year for Jersey week. I don't think the crowds were bad. As far as the people, you wouldn't even know that most of us were from Jersey. It's not that we go out our way to be rude. The only sign that many Jersey people were their was the football shirts you would see. Their were many wearing Eagles shirts(the South Jersey Fans) and Giants shirts (North Jersey fans). I still feel like the crowd levels are lower then if you visitted in the summer months.

Make sure you check out the food and wine festival at Epcot.

Good luck.

Meezers don't feel bad, I have been here for several years and still thought the same thing, lol!

The one distinction I'd have to make about Jersey Week is the way it's described. "Crowds were light" or "crowds were manageable" or "crowds weren't bad".

That's the point - THERE WERE CROWDS. Of course not as bad as summer or Christmas week or Easter/Spring Break but crowds none the less. If you're like me and go at off times and are used to NO CROWDS, NO LINES then you will be shocked at the number of people in the parks from the middle of October through the middle of November.

You have golf tournaments, MNSSHP/Halloween, Food & Wine Festival, British school vacations, Jersey schools vacation, a few other states' school vacation, Super Soap weekend, foreign tour groups, etc.

Firstly, not only is NJ not the 3rd smallest state (5th smallest in AREA), but its in the 9th MOST populated state (over 8 million people).

Are you sure you are from NJ??

It amazes me that people have no idea about the places they actually live. I took a geography class in college, and most students couldnt even pick out the USA on a world map or California on a US map (YIKES!!!!!)

But its all relative. Its gotten to be the only times where there are NO CROWDS, NO LINES is September and January. We went in early Febuary one year befre Presidents Week and it was "crowded." Relative to Easter, probably not, but I had taken my previous trip back in mid October back when they still had September like crowds.

And January can be really cold, September feels like a ghost town, parks close early....IMHO - and I hate crowds - I'd rather have light crowds than the tumbleweed feeling of September.

The crowds during Jersey week are not THAT bad! If your "used" to DL crowds in the MK on weekends :earseek: then WDW leading up and after the NJ Teacher convention time...a la Jersey week in WDW...you will be fine!

The only noticeable difference is when CM's asked if we were from Jersey! They noticed a lot of us checking in etc. I responded at first, "why, do I have an accent???" :rotfl:

As someone already posted...there can always be something going on in WDW! Food and Wine festival to name one while your there!

The GF is lovely and has lots of little nooks and crannies on their grounds for romance. Strolling around World Showcase lagoon at night with the pretty little white lights in the trees and the secret quiet spot over in France near the garden and water is perfect for some smooching! :lovestruc

Uh...what people/population??? :teeth: I currentyl live in SOUTH Jersey and it's like God's country down here with sod farms, preserves, and quiet! ;)

Lived in Jersey my whole life and it ain't just the Jersey Turnpike or just the area around NYC , or "Jersey City" for example :earseek:

The most Northern part of Jersey(close to High Point) is simply beautiful also with rolling hills(mountains depending on what you consider a mountain), open spaces, crickets chirping, farms...

New Jersey is not just the armpit of the world...it has some great undeveloped areas still... :teeth:  It's really not crowded in some areas like the South...until it's Jersey Shore time :earseek:

When the NYC branch of the family came for their first visit down here...they thought we dropped off the face of the planet! If it wasn't for the WaWa's(very popular convenience store) they wouldn't have had any landmarks! :rotfl:

I live in Jersey, just a few miles from Philly. At work, I have come to know people from extreme Southern Jersey and they have country accents, go figure that, to be from New Jersey with a country accent. And these are not transplant people. Then again, these people say I have a New York accent (I don't think so), but I've lived in South Jersey my whole life.

:confused3 What wrong with us? We live in NJ but we don't bite (hard anyway)! :rotfl2: I've been down during Jersey week - not that bad at all! The worst part is all of the flights out of Philly are packed!

Can we come if we behave? Some of us are pretty nice - even the Tag Fairy would like us! :goodvibes

I was there during "Jersey Week" 3 years ago and I didn't even know there was a "Jersey Week" and I'm FROM New Jersey!! It was not crowded at all so it just goes to show that it doesn't have an impact. Enjoy your honeymoon at the World!

Hi Everyone!

Myself, Hubby, 9 y/o daughter, 8 y/o nephew and 9 y/o neice (from MN and WI) Will be in DisneyWorld Nov 5th - 9th.
Will there be long waits in lines at the park?
This is the 1st time our niece and nephew have been on a plane trip.
I am hoping we will be able to see alot each day without being stuck in lines.
The last time we went to Disneyworld was 1st week of October and almost every ride was a walk-on.
Any educated guesses on wait times for the popular rides?
Will the older rides still be a walk-on???

Thanks for your input. Looking forward to meeting NJ residents!

I know how the OP feels about her fiance, my boyfriend hates being around crowds and I know if we went at any time but January or the first or second week of December he would be miserable. I love WDW so I can handle the crowds but he would hate walking around and being around so many people. I've never gone at that time but that's a tough decision because I wouldn't want him to hate it there because of the crowds. When we were there last May it was more crowded than it is the second week of December but it still wasn't over crowded but he still would have hated it. Good luck!

My husband and I are originally from the Burlington County area. I am telling you, down here(Cumberland County close to the Delaware bay), they do sound different! Funny, huh? My NYC relatives think I sound like a "valley girl" and others hear NYC in my accent! Who knew! :teeth: Lots of diversity in NJ!

Hi, fellow Jersey person/people!
