We do the early openings (I am NOT a morning person, and this is torture until I get in the park, then I'm happy). We cover as much territory as possible and usually leave the parks at about 11:30. We go have lunch then head to a waterpark or the hotel until about 5:00. Then we go back to the parks for the evening. Our last trip, DH got really sick, so our usual hour and a half nap turned into more like 3 hours. Didn't matter much because it rained all afternoon anyway.
But those midday breaks are ESSENTIAL to keep your mental and physical conditions in top form. WDW is enormous fun, but there's alot of work involved.
