Well, as someone who has yet to experience DCL's room service, I was very interested in reading all of the posts about which item is everyone's favorites. (My taste buds are groaning for a wee taste at this very moment.):bounce:

I am curious if there is any additional charge for room service? How does it work if you have already indulged in your three dinings? I suppose, more in general, how does all this dining work on board the ship? I am absolutely clueless!

I do follow the rotation for the different restraunts, but what about snacks? Drinks? What is really included? Any insight into how the dining thing works on board ship would be appreciated!:grouphug:

The wonderful thing about cruises is all the food is included (with the exception of an upcharge at Palo for Lunch and Dinner). So eat breakfast at the sit-down, then go up to the buffet, order room service, do the same for lunch, then a mid-day snack at plutos, then some ice cream at Scoops, then dinner, late night pizza, oh and room service again. :D :D :D Get the idea!

You do have to pay for drinks including soft drinks (expect at lunch or dinner in the resturants).

Now with all that eating don't forget to walk around deck four to walk it all off!

Enjoy!

No charge for room service but we did tip a few dollars each time. With all of the great food during the day we only used room service for the kids (cookies and Smuckers peanut butter & jelly), late night snacks, and breakfast when we were too lazy to get dressed after a late night. As a newbie we made the mistake of packing snacks and food for the room but we never really needed it.

Hi!

We were into the morning room service for the last few days (except disembarkation day). It was great hanging out in our pj's eating breakfast and NOT dressing for a change! I am not a big breakfast eater and I am counting points, so for me it was a relief to have my raisin bran, skim milk and some yogurt without being faced with the pastry tray! Everyone else went for eggs and other goodies.

Although the room guide lists some items for room service, you can make requests that aren't listed. We noshed on the room service pizza one evening -- it is a gourmet-style pizza, tasty sauce thick specialty crust. It was the size of an LP record, cut into 4 slices. YUMMY! There is a salad listed in the stateroom guide that my husband thought was better than the salads in the dining room.

Also, there are beverage 'coolers' in the staterooms (cat 5) that we used to place extra room service choc milks and juices for the kiddies. That way, when we were changing and someone was thirsty -- viola! -- a cool drink! Also, ask for a pitcher of ice water to be delivered.

There is a charge for soda, alcohol and bottled water sent up by room service. The DCL tacks on a gratuity to that as well. All other items are included so we would tip the room service person several dollars each time.

Thanks for the information!

I can hardly wait till November and try a little of this and a little of that...I do plan to walk onboard ship...I want to see every inch of it.

My ds will be thrilled...he is an adventurous eater sometimes, but other times he just wants to be a kid, so knowing there is always an option for him is great!

I like the idea of room service for snacks during the day and evening. I didn't realize food would be allowed in the theatres.

Thanks again!

momsgoofy,

Remember to pack that pair of stretchy pants for disembarking day!! You just may need them!!! LOL !!!

Food... Glorious Food

Not that I recommend wasting food, but if your ds wants to try something at dinner and really dislikes it, they will quickly remove it and bring you something else (with a smile).

Mmmmm...the room service is great. Everynight we'd order the Manicotti, big island cookies, and a pitcher of iced tea. It was good knowing that if we didn't really like too much at dinner, we always had room service or Pinocchio's Pizza!! The night before we left, we went up to Pinocchio's and took a whole pizza back to the room....
