........in AK. Where is it? Do you need to make seating reservations........whatever they're called now? Do they have Volcanos there?

We have a Rainforest Cafe here, so we've never gone to the ones at WDW, but ds will be turning 4 when we go this summer, and has asked to have his birthday at the Animal Kingdom, and as I know he loves Rainforest Cafe, I thought perhaps we could have an early dinner there, and use a volcano dessert as a substitute birthday cake?

We also planned a late breakfast at Donald's Breakfastasaurus, and possibly hopping back to Mk after our early Rainforest Cafe dinner if ds is not too tired.

Suggestions/comments welcome!

It's right at the entrance to the AK. You do not have to go to the AK to go to the restaurant.

DH and I have gone twice without reservations, but expect a long wait if you do this.

Sorry, I don't know if they have Volcanos.

They do have volcano's there. We just got back from our trip Sept 18th, and they were still on the menu. We bought that rainforest club card for $10, and you get guaranteed seating with in 10 to 15 min's or next avail. You even get a free appetizer or 10% off your bill, and as long as you use it once per year it never expires. They even send us coupons on my husbands birthday and our anniversary. So I would buy the card, definitely if the wait is long.

I'll second the Safari Club Card in a heartbeat! :cool1:

We joined in 2002, in Nashville, TN, knowing that we would use it for WDW...it's a great back up place to eat without ADRs, because the card gives you next available seating anyway but you don't have to plan for it.

Thanks guys! I didn't know about the Safari Club card, though we eat there a couple times a year in Grapevine, Texas. I think I'll go ahead and get it here, so I'll have it, as that will be Memorial weekend, and I'm not sure how crowded it will be...........don't want to wait for hours on the little guy's birthday!
