Too funny about the Fins....mabe I better re-think all this as I will ALWAYS be a Miami fan wherever I live!
Don't EVEN get me started on the infamous snow plow incident. But what can I say, the Pat's are there and Miami isn't...YET!
Thank you for the site and for letting me know that the system is improving. I ahve always been a firm believer in the teacher your child has, not the school per say, but being bounced around just sounded hard to adjust to. We will see what happens...DH has been searching so long, and we have been so close to a position too many times. It is very hard to have all the info you need in advance. All here at the DIS have been very patient and supportive of me checking on a zillion areas...I can say that it sure looks like there are very nice people everywhere we have checked out!
I am becoming more and more interested....we used to have a neighbor a few years ago who absolutely hated it here and wanted to get back to NC. Her main reasoning was that our schools are terrible and she refused to send her kids there and raved about the excellent education they would receive back home. Needless to say they did move back. We have not heard from them so I hope all worked out. I am not crazy over our schools either, yet they are ranked top in the nation( go figure) It is all relative, I think our kids are overworked, and not given the chance to be kids.....and even tho we have one of the wealthiest school systems in our state, have my kids gone on 1 field trip this year? Can you imagine having all the great museums of Chicago 45 minute s away and NEVER taking the schools there? What a waste. Other districts in our area utilize them, just not ours.
I am hijacking my own thread...just an example of how everyone has different ideas and expectations of education and school systems.
Well, we'll see if this position goes any further, but there were others in the area...we are VERY ebcouraged to see activity in the manufacturing area again..regardless if we are lucky enough to be chosen for the position!
