Just how scary is it? I've never been to Universal and I keep reading about certain rides that say, "Not as bad as the Mummy". I really want to go on but I can be a big baby. I've done Space Mountain and didn't like it but I can do Thunder Mountain.

Well, I love it, but I like scary rides. It has some surprising moments. I'd classify it as 'thrilling'. Don't want to give any spoilers if some haven't been yet.

Scary? Nah. Maybe to a young child but I find it more comical than scary. The coaster itself isn't any worse than Big Thunder.

It is just fun. Certainly not scary.

Not intense at all.....smoother than Space Mountain too.

Everyone is different.......but you have to try and see how it is for you......:thumbsup2

The coaster part of it is fabulous.

The scary parts are the storyline parts. If you've seen The Mummy you can imagine the sorts of scares that will be in it.

Ha! We are going without the kids so I'm sure my husband will drag me on. I'm not good at roller coasters. But if's smoother than Space Mountain I bet I can handle it. Is there any crazy drops?

There is one drop.....it's not a big drop its more fast if that makes sense.....that's where they take your picture......

It is a fantastic ride with amazing theming.........you shouldn't miss it........betcha love it!!

The coaster portions are pretty short, so even if you think it's overwhelming, it's over pretty quick. There is a steep but very short drop after a launch, and another short drop at the end.

There are some loud noises and other "dramatic" effects at different parts of the ride, but nothing really scary.

Nothing really scary, although some of the effects in the story parts at the beginning can be mildly startling. Also, if you're afraid of bugs (scarab beetles in this case), there's an effect towards the beginning that uses fake ones. Nothing that scary unless you have an intense phobia of bugs.

Not scary for an adult. I have a child who gets scared easily who will likely freak out on it due to the combo of dark and fire, so we won't have him do it. It can easily be scary to a 6 year old kid, but I'd think most adults would be just fine. :)

The latest episode of the podcast goes into quite a bit of detail about it, how scary it is, what it's like, etc.

Its isn't scary..My 11 yr old wont ride it though because of the intense fire effect in the one scene( she is terrified of fire)

My DD12 and I LOVE it and we are not fans of coasters with big drops or of scary rides. If you like BTMRR you will like it. Give it a try. I've been on it dozens of times and never heard anyone say anything negative as we were exiting. Usually the people who were scared when boarding are raving about how awesome it was!

I do not like Space Mountain at all. It's one of the only coasters I can't tolerate. However, I LOVE the Mummy, one of my favorites. I don't find it scary at all but fun. Nothing at all like some of the larger coasters they have.

I don't care to ride BTMRR and I pretty much have sworn to never ever ride Space Mountain again. Now the Mummy, LOVE it! I think DS and I rode it 4 times last year. We would have ridden it more often but it was down quite a bit on our last day.

it's a quick ride roller coaster.
the only drop i can think of is when the photos are taken.

the actual ride itself is quick when it becomes just a coaster ride.

the scary part for me is when the ride stops.
it's a quick stop at the end.
i always brace myself for that part.

We rode it last year, when my youngest was 10. He is the one who was begging to go on it. It must not have been too scary because I don't remember it! But my kids tell me I rode it. I will go again during this trip and pay attention.
