I am going to Orlando next week and after reading some things regarding the weight/size restrictions on the Forbidden Journey, I'm terrified.

I know there is modified seating but I would prefer regular seating so I don't get separated from my family and have to go in the 'big' line by myself.

So, I'm about 5'4" and 230lbs. I'm a size 18/20. More of my weight is in my lower half. I wear a 38D bra, but, honestly most of my chest is fat, so, I don't think that should come in the way of the thing they pull over you.
I have a bit of a stomach, but, it's not huge. I can suck it in if necessary.

Based on that description, do you think I will fit in the regular seating on the ride?

Also, does every cart thing have modified seating? I know it's located on the ends, but I wasn't sure if this was for every cart or just a select few.
Because if it's on every one, I'll just sit on the end to stop myself from the humiliation of possibly not fitting.

Thanks in advance.

For other rider's similar experiences, try the following thread. Start at the end, as the posts in the beginning are from the time before any seats were modified.

I think all the outside seats on all the ride vehicles have been modified, but I don't know for sure.

When we went, all the outside seats (so 2 out of 4 seats per bench) were modified. The seat itself is the same. It's the latching mechanism that is different and allows more space.

it sure does allow a lot of space in that modified seat.......

i do the single rider line.

i always end up in that modified seat.

i have more than enough room in it.

i keep wishing to get in the middle seats but that only happens if i do the regular line.

i think the op will do fine on the modified seats.

You'll be fine. When I was there last August/Sept I was 5'6" and 230lbs and also wore a 18-20. I fit fine in the end seats and that was before they supposedly modified them. I was there again in Oct and was a few pounds lighter. The end seats were very comfortable. I carry most of my weight in my hips and stomach. I also rode it fine in Dec and May. I usually use the single rider line, so round up in one of those end seats anyway.

The only time I ever had a problem was once last August/Sept. I had already ridden the ride a couple of times that morning, but for some reason when I went on it the third time, the CM refused to give the restraint that little push the other CMs had. He said they weren't allowed to. I told him I had just gotten off the ride less than five minutes before and had ridden it with no problem and had also ridden it multiple times the day before. He refused to assist with that little push and made me get off. I waited a few hours, then went back and rode it several more times with the CMs giving the restraint that little push it needed to get the third click. Now this was before they modified those end seat restraints. Ever since they modified them, I've been able to get the third click easily on my own. Just make sure you sit in either of the end seats and you'll be fine. We were told that all the end seats are modified. In Oct, Dec, and May I saw people bigger than you or me fitting fine.

I don't think there's a separate line unless they've changed things since December. It's all the same line. They just direct you, once you reach the seating TMs, to an outer seat on the 4-seat robot-arm thing.

In May, anyone that needed the larger seats they were pulling out right there where the single rider line comes in, (just before the sorting hat), and then they were directing them to that middle lane that's usually empty (so when you got to where the CM was counting off the groups you had the single riders in the left lane, the modified seating riders in the middle lane, and the regular line on the right). They were letting whole families go into that center lane though.:confused3 My husband and I used the single rider lane, but told them there at the breakoff point, that we both needed the modified seating. They sent us both to the center lane. We were surprised when they put us both in the same bench and told the couple they had pulled out of the regular lane to sit in the two middle seats and for us to sit on each end.

I have seen them do it that way or use the three seperate lines at the end as single rider, modified seats, regular seat. But you won't be seperated from your party. If one person needs a modified seat they will keep you together. :thumbsup2

Also - be prepared if it looks like it might be close they will pull you out of line and make you try the test seats before the area I discussed above. (I just think it is better to know. Happened to a friend of mine and he was mortified.)

Thank you all for this information. It's all been very helpful, and I'm a lot less scared.
So, you're saying that every "bench" has modified seats on the end?
Because I have a party of 3, so, one of us will have to sit on the end and if that's the case, I'll just be that person so I don't have to worry about not fitting because I'm confident I'll at least fit on the modified seating.
Thanks again so much. :)

That seems to be the consensus. :thumbsup2

Was there 2 weeks ago, and had no problems with either seating. I am 5'1 and wear a 20/22. Even with my Kipling multiple bag around my waist, I was comfortable in both the middle and the end seating. One thing I did find out is that your view differs greatly depending on which seat you're in. The end seats have different views than the middle, but all are fantastic!

You won't need the modified seat. I'm about your size and fit just fine. We were there in Nov. 2010. You will be fine. The motion sickness is another story. Woooooo!

oh this is REALLY reassuring. Thank you so much!

Just got back and it is really a hit or miss on if you will be able to ride or not. I was lucky the first time I went and had them help push to get the shoulder harness to click to the proper place. I went on again about 30 minutes later and a different operator looked at the sensor and didn't see the green light and asked me to get off the ride and take the "Fat person walk of shame" to the exit. The next day I was 1 for 3 on riding the ride. Good luck and hope you get a cooperative ride operator.

That stinks!! did you try for the end seats that have been modified??

Was the end seat every time. It was really up to the ride attendant. There were the two that would do everything to get everyone on and the others would just look and not even attempt to do anything. I did get to ride it but if I would ever go back I think I will just stick with Universal Studios where I was able to get on everything.

well guys, all was well. At the time I went, I was 240lbs(10lbs heavier). I headed straight for an end seat. I got at least 1 click on my own. maybe two. I'm not sure. the worker there pulled it down at least 1 click more and asked if I was okay. I said yes and we were sent on our way. Everything was fine.

I actually had a bit more trouble on Dragon Challenge, which I wasn't suspecting. I was having issues pulling down the harness to be able to click the thing in, and I couldn't do it so the worker and to force it down and click it for me.

thanks again for everyone's help!

We just got back. I know everyone is in the same line. But...I thought the modified were only in the middle seats (on the end) of the train...but not in the front seats? In other words when you go to pick your row, you can all stay together.
