We are going to Disney for Christmas. We will be there the week before and the week after.

We have decided to hit the parks the week before and do "other" things the week after Christmas.

We would like to send our daughter, who will be 4 in Nov, to the Children's Clubs a couple of nights so we can have a couple of nice quiet dinners.

We both agreed that where she is will be the place we have dinner.

We are staying at Fort Wilderness and decided we would send her to the Cub's Den at the Wilderness Lodge while we have dinner there....probably Whispering Canyon (I think that's what it's called).

I then read the list of clubs to our DD and asked which one she wanted to go to and she choose Simba's Club at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Can any of you experienced parents tell me if your children liked Simba's. Also, what restaurant in at the Animal Kingdom is a good place for hubby and I to have dinner.

I tried to convince her to go to the Peter Pan club as I wanted to eat at the Poly but she insisted on Simba's. I think we'll send her to Peter Pan in March when we return.

Any advice, ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.

thanks,

Had to laugh at the thought of Whispering Canyon and quiet dinner.... :rotfl2:

Boma is Great!!! It was one of our top three favorites our last trip.

You may also want to check out the Restaurant board for some great reviews of many of the restaurants.

At WL i would eat at Artist Point. A much nicer quiter place. If you choose to eat at WCC, do it sometime with your child. The kid's club at WL is small but seemed very nice. We did not use it but went down during afternoon family activities.

The peter pan club is suppose to be the best of all the clubs. I would really just choose for her as she will have fun where ever she goes. Watch peter pan with her and tell her she gets to climb in the window to the club!

Have you looked into Camp Dolphin? There are a number of nice restaurants in the Dolphin & Swan for a quiet evening out. From what I've read, you get FREE child care with Camp Dolphin if you dine at Shula's steakhouse or Todd English's bluezoo. Be sure to make separate reservations @ Camp Dolphin, though, as they can fill up. I believe the children are served their own dinner at one of the kid-friendly Dolphin restaurants.
Check out allears.com for info on kids clubs.

thanks to everyone for the replies.

JennDisney.......I know it is funny to think about having a quiet dinner at a buffet. What I should have said is that we just want to have dinner alone, without interuption. The background noise is fine.

Don't be fooled by the name "Whispering" Canyon Cafe. It should be called "Dull Roar" Canyon Cafe, LOL. It actually isn't a buffet. It is a fun place to eat. There's a lot of interaction with other guests and CM's.

If you want something more refined than eating on a wagon wheel, then you'll want to eat at Artist Pointe.

Did you also check out the Sand Castle club at the Yacht Club? The Yachtsman restaurant is also very nice.

If your daughter has her heart set on the Simba's club then AKL has two restaurants - Boma which I have eaten at twice and both dh and I loved. Boma is a buffet. Jiko is the other restaurant - haven't eaten there but looks really nice. It's the more formal "sit-down and be served" type of restaurant.

hth!

This past February, we put our DD's (4 and 11) in Simba's Club House and they had a good time. There were several pieces of artwork for us when we picked them up. :) One of the women that was there was very nice and the Grandmotherly type. We felt very comfortable leaving our DD's in their care. We ate at Jiko and had one of the best meals (in fact we are going back this August for my birthday). We have done Boma too and always had good meals there.
