We are thinking of going on a cruise. We have a child who will be one year old at the time. Is a stroller necessary? Is it cumbersome or intrusive? Any advice is appreciated.

Take whatever stroller your child is comfortable with! We took the huge car seat/stroller combo (DD was 8 months old) and it was great! Plenty of room in our cabin(we had a cat. 7) and around the ship. Supposedly there are strollers to borrow or rent, but I wouldn't count on one being available!

I agree with taking your stroller. We took our 8mo. DD on a 4 day cruise and used a stroller for her. Last year when our son was 8mo. and DD was 2 we took two strollers. One was one of those umbrella strollers that folded up very easily and we stored it in our closet. the other was slightly bigger and we kept that one together the whole time in the room. We also had a cat. 7 on our first cruise and a cat. 4 the last trip. We are going again this Oct and are going to take at least one stroller. Hopefully our three yr. DD will not want one because she will be in the club.
I believe that there are stollers to rent, but I knew my DD and DS would be more comfortable in their own!

Our DS3.5 still likes the stroller for long walks and we forgot to take ours onboard. I really missed it at St Marteen while dh did the regatta, as I walked round town with ds and did the beach, I could of shopped better and longer if he had it lol. Also at CCay as it is a long walk to get from the tram to less crowded beach areas, but we did see strollers to borrow next to the wheelchairs.

I think you should take an umbrella stroller with you and then you have the choice, you can store it in the wardrobe or under the bed easily and no bother.

Definately take a stroller - the small collapsable type. You aren't going to want to carry the little one in port or while going from one point on the ship to another. The little one can be asleep and you can still move about the ship.

TAKE IT!!!! I had my 2 year old in it all the time on the ship and off....the ship is pretty big to be carrying the baby all around!

We found the sign out strollers very easy to access. They were the super sturdy graco with the big wheels so they move much better than the umbrella collapsable strollers. Mind you, it was a 2 year old that we used this for. She never liked a stroller much, but it was userful to get around Castaway Key.
